We have been asked by the team at BMI Healthcare to find out about coping with stiff and painful joints and the effect they have on your everyday life.

Here's what BMI Healthcare says: "We often create information to give out to our orthopaedic and physiotherapy patients which is quite generic and not really relevant to most activities that people do. We'd really like to understand how joint and bone pain affects your everyday life, so we can begin to tailor our information to make it more useful. Thank you for your help."

This survey is open to all UK gransnetters. Everyone who completes this survey will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky gransnetter will win a £300 John Lewis Voucher.

Here's the link to complete the survey: tiny.mn/1KxmXmT

Congratulations HMHNanna, you are the lucky winner! We'll be emailing you shortly with more details.

A private healthcare company? No thanks.

annsixty Tue 26-May-15 18:27:13

Oh come on dj lighten up. I have done it,anything to help sufferers, of which I am a recent recruit.

There is no such thing as a "private" hospital. Both Ramsay and Bmi are now just satellite clinics for the NHS choose and book business.

Anne58 Tue 26-May-15 19:31:21

durhamjen why do you think answering a survey for a private healthcare company is such a bad thing? After all, we don't give out our address or even email address? confused

Eloethan Tue 26-May-15 19:52:22

I agree with durhamjen and won't be answering it either. These companies work for their profit, not our benefit.

BMI is all about having private health insurance, not about the NHS.
If you have seen anything else I have written on here about the NHS, you will realise why I will not "lighten up" about healthcare.

"Of the 3,392 CCG board members, a total of 513 were directors of private healthcare companies: 140 owned such businesses and 105 carried out external work for them. More than 400 CCG board members were shareholders in such companies. In some of these cases, the directorships and shareholdings may be related to GPs’ own surgery companies. But the majority are those of CCG board members with interests in other health providers. Those who carried out external work for the private sector included consultancy, advisory or private practice work for private hospital operators Circle, Spire and BMI and drug companies Lily and AstraZeneca."

One thing I have found since I was made disabled /retired everyone wants to slow down abd if you wish to join any commitees they wish to talk about it rather than get up and go. instead of motoring in 4th gear they want to act in 1st. My knees have certainly limited my travel to look for voluntary work.

Done - I have no problems about private healthcare except that I can't afford it!

I filled this in last week, and then had a phone call today from a company (can't recall name but it wasn't BMI Healthcare) concerning it. I answered a few more questions, and then came the soft sell - some form non drug treatment (I guess a machine like tens?). I said I wasn't interested and we closed the conversation down.
I didn't think our phone numbers were passed on but I can't recall the form exactly so may be wrong there.
Anyone else had a call?
