I did it - I like thinking about Christmas as I will be spending it with my daughter and grandson.

What a nasty little survey.
Completely misnamed. 'How you celebrate Christmas?'
No.
How much are you likely to spend so we may target you in our advertising.
One reference only to any form of religious celebration: 'when you attend the first advent Service.'
Won't complete it.

I used to be so excited about Christmas. then I grew up. I got excited again when I had children. Then they grew up. Now I have grandchildren I look in from the outside on their excitement but soon they will grow up. Sadly commercialism has taken over. I miss the sheer naivety and wonderment of Christmas. It ain't what it used to be hmm

Bluebelle having grown up in the Southern Hemisphere, I still cannot get used to a Christmas that isn't about picnics on the beach and a barbecue grin ...

Can’t be bothered with Christmas in the middle of a heatwave

It's an American idea (of course wink) that's jumped across the pond. This is the official site. There are lots of "traditions" connected to the elf, including the one mentioned in the survey, of elves creepily reporting back to Father Christmas on a child's behaviour. Also lots of expensive accessories and geegaws to part you from your money.

We don't do any of that. I bought a couple of elf dolls a couple of years ago from Amazon for about £4 each (Tesco sell them now). From 1 December they appear in the DGC's houses every morning, doing something naughty (swinging off the Christmas tree, making snow angels in flour on a baking board, dipping a rod into the fish tank, etc). The little ones love looking for them every day, the parents get a little bit tired of the damn things and are glad when they disappear on Christmas Eve. smile

Likewise.

There are some things on this survey that I have never even heard of! Elf on the Shelf? - who he?

We know you're probably thinking about summer holidays, long evenings in beer gardens and the hottest summer since the 1970s, but some people are starting to think about Christmas (yes, really!) and we'd like to hear your thoughts around Christmas.

This survey is open to all UK GNers who celebrate Christmas, and all who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £50 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Click here to complete the survey.

Thanks and good luck!
