It appears to have tumbled out of the booksellers ratings after only a few thousand copies sold.

So, were you one of the optimistic souls who bought it hoping for an insightful read? Or did his performance on "I'm a Celebrity" make you buy the tome out of pure (misguided) pity?

Grantanow Sun 29-Jan-23 15:45:18

No and I won't buy it when it's remaindered at 99p.

Not interested in anything Hancock has to say.

I might download it for free, if it’s in our library’s audiobook offerings, or buy one at a charity shop.

He also belonged to a government that was very much in the pocket of the road transport lobby and had no time for the railways so it irritates me that he’s made a living from travelling by train. I know what you mean, though. I find his programmes very entertaining. He was good on The Week in Politics with Dianne Abbott, too. But if I was one of the railway workers being interviewed by him I’d be tempted to say something!

Maybee I still like him though.

Remember Dick Emery - "ooh, you are awful. But I like you"

Dreadful little man. Now destined for a life amongst the low-grade TV shows. If he's lucky.

Not Strictly, please.

Nor more rail journeys around far flung countries courtesy of the BBC licence payer!

(I do like Michael Portillo but everyone seems to be getting the same gigs now.)

Michael Portillo: another arch brexiter who still has the very benefits that the rest of us have lost due to having a Spanish passport. ( Mick Lynch, for the sake of political balance, being another one).

Yes, she is with the loathsome Tice. Both have 3 children with their spouses.

^was at the forefront of Britain’s battle against the virus, trying to steer the country through the crisis in a world where information was scarce^

what rubbish, puerile writing, making him out to be some sort of heroic leader. Just the kind of tripe I would expect by the co-author Isabel Oakeshott.

Isabel Oakshott Co author? Wasn’t she having an affair with Tice at the same time that Hancock was conducting that affair with his aide?

No. Definitely not.

midgey Fri 30-Dec-22 12:28:35

I listened to a radio programme with the vaccine ‘czar’ Kate Bellingham, her carefully worded phrase….’ Recollections may vary’… told me all I wanted to know about the book!

cangran Fri 30-Dec-22 12:26:50

One shop filed both Hancock's and Johnston's books under Crime. Seems appropriate!

Kate1949 Fri 30-Dec-22 11:48:29

Didn't buy it. Won't buy it.

25Avalon Fri 30-Dec-22 11:42:42

Why bother when the tabloids have given us sections of it? It will be the same with Spare.

Aveline Fri 30-Dec-22 11:28:48

I'm sure it will be 'his' truth but I'm just not interested. I bet the only people buying it will be media types who want to pick holes in it.
I doubt he'll make much of a career as a TV personality like Ed Balls. Ed Balls is at least likeable. Matt somehow just isn't.

Grantanow Fri 30-Dec-22 11:28:13

I expect it will be remaindered like the author.

Aldom Fri 30-Dec-22 11:12:01

And it's a NO from me.

Actually, I didn't know he had written a book!

Quokka Fri 30-Dec-22 10:44:58

He’s written a book?

Chestnut Fri 30-Dec-22 10:16:05

*It would be interesting just to enable us to form an opinion*
Ohhhhh Chestnut are you expecting it to be the truth
then ???

I'm not expecting anything. It was just a rundown because no-one seems to know anything about it, or even that it existed. Maybe someone who has read it could comment.

halfpint1 Fri 30-Dec-22 10:15:25

I was dismayed this week to see Prince Harry's face on a publicity board in my local french supermarket.

MaizieD Fri 30-Dec-22 09:49:52

No.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 30-Dec-22 09:41:50

I expect his mum bought it .

Lovetopaint037 Fri 30-Dec-22 09:40:29

The lack of preparation for Covid which was sweeping across Europe weeks before, the out of date and nonexistent protective equipment for front line staff, the Covid infected who were sent to care homes. No I will not be buying it.
