What a lot of fuss kicked up about nothing. I didn't see tiggers deleted post, she'd do well to remember it was her post that escalated a simple comment which wasn't even addressed to her.

Fair comment tigger but I only usually 'attack' if there's a valid reason, which there certainly wasn't in this instance.

When I said there were a lot of short fuses, it was not meant as any excuse, but an observation. Name-calling is out of order at any time, and while GG may have reported the post too, she was not the only one as I certainly did.

Jingl may laugh it off, but it was a gratuitous insult and designed as a put down. No excuse to say there are other examples, 2 or more wrongs do not make a right and there are more important things in life than storms in teacups over whether or not a person likes/dislikes being referred to as a ladyguy/girl/ old bat.

It's quite interesting, isn't it? In my mother's day it was akin to an insult to call a female person a woman as 'lady' was the polite term. But now things seem to have changed so that 'lady' is not acceptable to many of us and we prefer 'woman'. However, it's only words, no point in getting het up about it.

Going to the hairdresser is the only time I get to be called, 'My lady'

I much prefer it though to the Fenland over familiarity of 'My woman'

I'd rather the staff in restaurants referred to me and friends as 'ladies' rather than 'girls' or, worse still, 'guys'. How do you expect the Maitre d' to address you as you enter the restaurant? 'Good evening women'? 'mesdames' perhaps - if it's a posh establishment?

Def not 'girls', that's really demeaning and 'guys' to a group of women is ridiculous.

Could it be noted that I like being called a Lady. It's fine other Grasnetters want to be called women.

We should be given a list by HQ of various names e.g.

Lady
Woman
'Er indoors
Pet
My duck
My lovely
Other

then asked to tick the ones appropriate to ourselves.

Goodness gracious. Some quite innocuous comments have been deleted. I think I'd like an explanation from GNGQ please? These certainly did not break forum guidelines IMO.

Minimalise and laugh it off if you like Anya and jinglbellfrocks but your comments were far from innocuous. It is good to know others found your comments offensive and so did HQ hence the deletion of your comments.
