No new babies on the horizon for me this year, but here's a thread for those who are about to become grandparents in 2016 to share the good news. Is anyone expecting a new grandchild in January?

Pittcity Sat 19-Dec-15 08:29:32

Not in January, but there are four due in our family during the same week in May , one of which is a grandchild.

A dgc's due end of May, a brother or sister for 27 month old DGS!
I'm ridiculously excited, I saw the 12 week scan photo a few weeks ago, amazingly clear!

My youngest DD& SIL expecting their first baby in February, just under 8 weeks to go.
We have a 13 year old DGS from our eldest DD and I'm sure this one will bring as much joy as he has.

I am so hoping for a November grandchild

grannyactivist Sat 19-Dec-15 10:49:37

Congratulations to all grandparents in waiting. ginny do you know yet whether it's a girl or a boy?

ginny Sat 19-Dec-15 13:52:45

No, they did not want to know and are hoping 'Daddy' will be able to announce 'it's a boy /girl ' when the time comes. They have chosen names too but want that to be a surprise for everyone too.

I have my 2nd Great grandchild due in June , they will find out at the end of January what to expect girl or boy. My granddaughter had her first a boy last June so they will be very close together she'll be so happy either way but she whispered to me that if its a girl she will be doubly happy to call a halt to her child bearing yearswink

I too have a second great grandchild due in March. My DGD already has a boy and we know this one is a girl. This is lovely but we would have been so happy any way as DGD had two miscarriages after the birth of their son.

What lovely things to look forward to next year. Nice thread to put up!

What a lovely idea, grannyactivist! Congratulations all! No new GBs for me this year (I have 2 whom I adore!) but happy for all of you!

How exciting, tanith and daffydil that you're going to be GGMs! Sorry daffy about your DGD's miscarriages, though, and hope all continues to go well with this current pregnancy.

Best wishes to all! smile

ginny it seems your February grandchild-to-be is leading the field next year. Do come back and tell us all about it when s/he arrives. smile

Not sure if this counts, but DSil's eldest daughter from his first marriage is having a baby in March (I think) so does that make me a Step Great Grandmother? Just asking. I don't see anything of her now as she no longer spends every other weekend with her Dad and they live a long way away.... Still, am happy for her but a bit sorry for DD as she desperately wanted another baby but at least she has got one, our DGS (only one too) who will be an uncle at 3 years of age!!!! grin

May I sneak in with a December baby? DD's third was due a few days ago so I do hope it won't turn out to be a January arrival. tchgrin

Nelliemoser Mon 21-Dec-15 08:33:06

This thread makes me want another baby GC but I am not sure what my DD would think about that. grin My current one is only 8 months.

There is something very special about holding a new baby.

Anniebach Why November?

ginny Mon 21-Dec-15 08:58:39

baubles Hope your new DGC arrives soon. I bet you jump ever time the 'phone rings.

Don't worry grannyactivist I'll be telling the world ! grin

Just heard that DH's cousins first grandchild, due mid January, arrived on Sunday morning.
Mum dad and baby all fine, granny just a little bit traumatised to say the least. Despite being a midwife in a former life she wasn't prepared for the emotional involvement.

Good luck to all with New Year babies! I think ours have stopped now - 7 is quite enough! - any new ones will be a surprise to everyone, including the parents!

Indinana Mon 21-Dec-15 10:42:52

What a lovely thread, filled with happy anticipation! Best wishes to all the parents and grandparents of these happily awaited little ones tchsmile.

Third grandchild due in May. Don't know what it is yet, but as we already have one of each it matters not - either way it will be more than welcome.

Regalo Mon 21-Dec-15 10:51:36

Grandchild number 5 due early Feb. So excited ....just love babies. I never had grandparents so being a grandparent is all the more special. We lost two grandsons 18 months ago , so new arrivals are all the more precious.

Failte81 Mon 21-Dec-15 11:33:36

Not quite 2016 but our granddaughter is expected to arrive on New Year's Eve ........could really be any day now ??? as long as it isn't lunchtime on Xmas day !!!!!!!

EllenMay Mon 21-Dec-15 23:47:46

Our granddaughter is due third week in January - knitting frantically and hoping to get the shawl finished before she arrives!

Mulu52 Tue 26-Apr-16 10:53:54

My 1st grandchild is due end Sept and I can't wait. I gave all my Mums knitting kit away - not that I was any good but would really love a hand knitted shawl and absolutely willing to pay for wool, time and postage if anyone could point me in the right direction please?

yummygran1 Tue 26-Apr-16 10:58:36

My fifth, and am told final grandchild, is expected in September. My DS and DiL have already found out the gender, so I know that it will be a boy, the second boy for them. I had hoped they would wait until the birth but my son couldn't wait, as he couldn't for his other two, whereas by younger son and his partner were quite happy to wait to find out the gender of their two.
