Well ladies, I heard last night that DS and DIL have agreed to separate. I thought I would be jubilant to hear this news but in fact I feel terrified. He says that at the moment she is talking about it very reasonably but from past experience I know this isn`t likely to last. He hasn`t actually moved out yet but I am dreading the coming months even though there is now a glimmer of hope that we will be able to see the grandchildren in the future

Our new living room door arrived yesterday. I wanted one with glass as we keep the door closed unless we're in there because my naughty cat gets up to no good if he's in there unsupervised. I want to let more light through and it's such a lovely room it's a shame that we can't see into it.

Mr. S. thought we should get a joiner to hang it but I've told him he'll be able to do it, I mean he put up the glass balconette so a door should be a piece of.

Filled in some more hair line cracks in the plaster before I went to the gym so just have to sand them down and touch up the paint work. Just one more crack to deal with after that but it's rather large so I'll do my best this afternoon and if it doesn't look very good I'll get Mr. S. to finish it off.

Yogagirl sad but beautiful....you have a point about self help books as does eddiecat, too much can keep you in a sad place rather than add hope and healing or - cheerfulness.

I play scrabble online with friends and its a balm to keep my mind working plus stops me dwelling on things, as well as reading cheap books from charity shops or a well known on line retailer.

Reading an Elizabeth Jane Howard at the moment. Very entertaining.

Ah Celeb. Buddy Holly's It Doesn't Matter Any More was my first heartbreak song. I was 15 and my first boyfriend, who was six years older, had just dumped me because I always had to be in by 11pm and couldn't stay out late for weekend parties.

I sat in a local cafe with a friend one miserable very wet Sunday afternoon and spent all my money on the juke box playing that song over and over...

I agree that reading/watching vidoes about something can be really helpful - even if it is just to prove that you are not the only one suffering. But I think it is important not to get too obsessed with trying to find an answer. Years ago I had a nasty bout of depression and read endless "self-help" type books about it. One day DH commented that I might feel better if I read something that made me smile instead - he was right

I posted some things/pics on FB and got lots of sympathetic replies from friends, only time I post is their birthdays & the day of being 'cut out' 16th Nov. my FB is closed to friends & family only, which does include Celebgran My ND is upset today too The pic I posted on FB was the last time my nice daughter Sarah-Jane saw her niece Laila . I've posted the same pic below, my ND wont mind.

It must be so much harder for you Yogagirl and Luckylegs when you live alone. Those of us that have someone to share this with on a daily basis are fortunate indeed.

Hope today isn't going too badly for you Yogagirl. Because we never really knew our eldest GC and have never met our other GC Mr. S. and I feel rather detached and their birthdays no longer affect us. Our eldest's first was awful and I found his 5th at the beginning of the year surprisingly difficult and I think that's because it dawned on me that his baby days and toddler years had gone; we've missed it all and can never get it back.

I can't imagine how painful it must be for those of you who'd established a relationship with your GC and then had them taken away.

I understand where you're coming from Yogagirl. Sharon's other book is the only one I've actually read; living it's bad enough without reading about it as well especially as there aren't any answers and we'll never really know 'why'; that said it really is an excellent book so much so that we've ordered it on amazon even though I've already read it.

Rosyit's truly heartbreaking when we lose a beloved pet because they're one of the family aren't they. We lost 2 last year, my poor little cat who wasn't quite 4 but had suffered enough and I couldn't let him suffer any more. I was sooo distraught that I couldn't even stay with him but when I said 'goodbye' he was sitting on my lap, perfectly calm and when he looked at me with his "beautiful eyes as clear as a bell" I'm convinced he knew that I was bringing an and to his suffering at last and was thankful.

Our elderly grumpy old peke was another heartbreaking loss; I still miss him and would love another one especially as my bro got one a few months ago but Mr. S. isn't a lover of the breed. He was extremely difficult to handle and I think it's put him off for life. Our little man is a joy, we have several nik names for him the most popular being 'midge' because he really is small. He's only 2.5 and I already worry about what we'll do when he goes. Our cat, brother to the one we lost, is a little monkey and I was seriously thinking about getting a kitten to keep him company but I think my dealing with mad bundles of fur are behind me so I've decided to leave things as they are.

Glad Rosie's doing OK Celeb and you enjoyed your day with the children. Our god son and 2 brothers complete with mum and dad are joining us in Florida in October for 10 days. We're so excited but I'm sure they'll be a few secret tears when we see them splashing around in our pool knowing we'll never see our GC there.

Oh please ladies, enjoy your time for as long as you can. Recently I held my little Luna - Yorkie - whilst she went to sleep for the last time. She too was fourteen, and the end came so quickly...a blessing in some ways. The loveliest thing happened though. She already seemed out of things even before the needle went in. I held her in my arms, she was quite floppy. Then in the last few seconds she lifted her head and looked right at me, her beautiful eyes as clear as a bell. Then she slept. The vet said she had seen that happen only once before, saying goodbye. I am lost without her.

Oh celeb my Gracie is 14 too, old for her breed (greyhound) and is I fear on her last legs as the back legs are letting her down too often. The tears I have shed over the last few weeks

However her mammaryngland tumourmnot removed she hadm3 removed in past 2 benign one malignant,

Now we feel her back legs going,and very unsure about putting her through operation at 14 and 2 months,
She is enjoying her food and manages stairs better than me??
We feel blessed everyday as great age for a King Charles,
We had scare in March As u all know and I wrote to ed zero response so last time. I inform her of Heartbreak, we did tell her latest death(close friend she knew too) as only adds to misery being ignored .
