Not sure if this is the right place to post,i hav e met a lovely man,i really like and get on with,, we both have a good sense of humour and similiar interests in life, both have dogs and both animal lovers
We are wanting to have a closer relationship, but i think feel a bit embarrassed as to how to get this
I know we both want a sexual relationship, but i am not sure how i will feel when it comes to it,not having the bodies we once had, i am quite happy about it,as far as he is concerned,i worry about mine
I think he is a bit apprehensive too, we are both in our 70s, but young at heart, dont feel old at all
Hope this makes sense

Oh how lovely for the two of you. Last year I went to Greece with my friend Teresa & we met a wonderful couple in their late 60/early 70s - they met 2 yrs previous at a bowling club- and like you both found they had so much in common! She was widowed for some years as was her partner. I remember having a lovely conversation with her about how she felt with regard to intimacy between them - she said she was very nervous at first at thought of it as was he but it just all fell in place naturally - they were the most happiest couple you could want to meet. Best of luck to you both!

I hope he goes from strength to strength from here on. I know you were enjoying the anticipation of things to come, but its time that things went well for you both now. Best wishes to you both.

Thanks everyone, He was very ill, with Sepsis, a few weeks earlier he had an accident while cutting his garden hedge, initially the hospital said the infection wasnt caused by the injuries which were quite bad, but we cant think of anything else which could have caused him to get an infection,
He is still very weak, and lost quite a bit of weight, and has a cather in for another week at least
I am just hoping there will be an improvement soon,
I spoke to him yesterday and it was his best day up to now
Will keep updating
Last week we had planned to go off somewhere for a few days,so it all went wrong at the wrong time

Starlady Mon 05-Jun-17 10:12:16

To carry on from last update, he is home now, has an enlarged prostate, has to have a catheter for the next 2 weeks at least, until his next checkup
It turned out he had a bladder infection, which went to the prostrate, or the other way round, not sure, then the infection went into his bloodstream, so he was very ill he is still pretty weak,
Just my luck and his,for something to wrong, at the wrong time, but we will get through it
Thanks once again for best wishes and comments

So thrilled to read your post up thread and sorry to read your last post. Hope he recovers soon Valerie. Perhaps he was in remission for sometime and hadn't given much thought to it having been through and come out the other side.
He sounds lovely and so do you.

valeriej43 Mon 29-May-17 16:18:21

Thanks once again for your lovely comments,
Well he is still in hospital, taken in with 40+temperature
After his temperature stabalised he had blood tests and it turns out he had a prostrate infection, he was in agony, a lot better now, but on a drip
Hopefully home soon,
Will keep updating, dont know how this will affect him, but might take some time to get better completely, but i believe it can take weeks if not months of antibiotics
He still doesnt know that i know about the cancer, and i have no idea what kind

Sounds like you both had to meet one day! smile best wishes valerie

MissAdventure Sun 28-May-17 08:19:32

Please keep us updated, Valerie.
I loved reading this thread; so positive and heartwarming.
I expect what you said was right, that your partner thought his having had cancer may have been an issue for you - which its very clear it isn't at all. flowers best wishes to you and your man. Hope he is soon on the mend.

Thank you so much, i actually found out from someone else,he doesnt know i know, and keeps telling me not to worry, i dont want to ask him questions while he is still in hospital,
I just wonder why he didnt tell me himself, unless he thought it would make a difference which of course it wouldnt, just keeping fingers x, thats all i can do for now

annsixty Sat 20-May-17 22:28:51

Fingers firmly crossed for you both that this is not serious and soon sorted. Best wishes to you.

valeriej43 Sat 20-May-17 22:12:34

UPDATE;things were going so well, but my partner was taken into hosptal last week with a very high temperature, thats all i was told, he went home after spending 8 hours in A&E and was given antibiotics,he said the hospital said he had picked up a bug,
He was taken back in yesterday for blood tests, with again a very high temperature ,now having blood tests
I have only just found out he had previously had cancer and is still on medication, he also had an accident a couple of weeks ago cutting his hedge, almost severed 2 fingers
I am very worried now, when i found out he had been taken in he said nothing to worry about, i didnt know about the cancer then
I am hoping and praying it hasnt returned
The blood tests cant be done apparently until his temperature is stable,
I am so worried,

Thank you for your good wishes, Valeriej43.
Yggdrasil, don't worry, I plan to take myself on holiday for a while soon. I think a change of scenery and plenty of walks and fresh air will give me some much needed reflection time.

Don't rush into things too fast. You say you have just divorced, not a good time to make decisions. Especially with someone who texts all the time day and night, that's a bit too persistent.

Oh Valerie, what a truly wonderful thing to have happened to you !
You have something so very, very special, so embrace it.
Life is far too short to regret the things that we wish that we could have done.
As other Gransnetters have already said, book yourselves a room in a Hotel for the weekend, and have a whole lot of fun.
I am so happy for you.?

valeriej43 Thu 20-Apr-17 22:27:26

madaboutbooks;; How lovely for you too, i hope you let things proceed,
It is so nice to know at our age especially that we are still attractive to someone and that we feel attrax=cted to them too,
I felt a connection so to speak as soon as i met this man, good luck hope it all goes well for you

Theoddbird Thu 20-Apr-17 19:09:51

Have a lovely weekend away....and enjoy smile

madaboutbooks59 Thu 20-Apr-17 16:22:33

How lovely for you! Enjoy!

I'm in my 60s and newly single, having just divorced my husband because of his serial cheating. There's a local man I really like (unmarried) and I think he likes me. Sends me texts at all hours of the day and night saying he's thinking about me, hopes I'm ok, etc. Always ends them with at least 2 kisses. If I bump into him in the street he always hugs and kisses me. Now, I could just let this situation carry on ad infinitum, but I'm going to invite him over for a meal soon and see if anything develops...

I was single a LONG time and used to hang on to this song whenever I felt down about it. After the lyrics (fr 1974 performed by the group America) is a bit about the song's history that I never knew, I just liked the comforting easy music and hopeful lyrics!

Lonely People

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
And ride that highway in the sky

This is for all the single people
Thinking that love has left them dry
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
You never know until you try

Well, I'm on my way
Yes, I'm back to stay
Well, I'm on my way back home

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up
Until you drink from the silver cup
She'll never take you down or
Never give you up
You'll never know until you try

Songwriters
CATHERINE L. PEEK, DANIEL M. PEEK

Dan Peek is quoted in Wiki that he wrote it in reply to the pessimistic Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles. It was a metaphor which means: "It's possible to drink from another's well of experience...and be refreshed."
