The Duchess of Sussex and her father

Read the latest in sad state of affairs between Meghan and her father today with sadness.

Her letter seemed so reasonable and made good points, her father has behaved in such an abominable way towards his daughter. Rather than pulling his head in after the stupid staged shots he was paid for, apologised and kept quiet till it all blew over he's dug his heels in and embarrassed her time and time again.

I'm not surprised her friends came out in support, even if she did direct it. Has the press no memory of how poor Diana and Fergie were berated and bullied? The idiot rags like the Daily Mail and the Sun are really going for it to make their money. I feel so sorry for her and hope it doesn't affect her pregnancy with all the stress.

I don't understand why the public seem to want her to reconcile with him. He obviously can't be trusted and she's wise to stay well clear, that side of the family is unhinged. Half brother with a DUI and domestic abuse, the other sister seems disturbed, her own daughter cut her off for goodness sakes and by the looks of it for good reason.

Harry was always my favourite, he's a bit older than my two children, but I always felt for him after Diana died. He was such a little mite behind the coffin.

Arthur Edwards from the Sun

“George Clooney should stick to flogging fancy coffee and stop preaching about his friend Megan’s terribly difficult life”

The pink gown was lovely , I even liked the white gown Kate wore for the BAFTA’s awards and I don’t like white

Lily65 Thu 14-Feb-19 08:23:35

Frivolity alert.....Kate looks great, so long limbed but wow she's slim. I didn't like the belly button look on Meghan the other day.

Iam64 Thu 14-Feb-19 07:44:53

Good point muffinthemoo, I'm not a huge fan of sparkly frocks but that was a stunner. Kate wears clothes well doesn't she. So does Meghan. Frivolous I know to even consider these things but I have daughters who mostly live these days in jeans and t's as they have small children but they've always enjoyed frocking up for a night out. It's Assos and H&M for them, rather than designer but as you say - the frock will be copied and maybe available in a store/on line near you for £50 before long.

Never mind the serious business, that pink Gucci dress Kate wore to the V&A tonight was absolutely stellar. A+, will be ripped off in mere weeks by numerous high street brands

Do you have a link or secret source in the RF security and PR team Annie? You appear to know more than the average Joe Public hmm

Anniebach Wed 13-Feb-19 20:13:04

Kate may have been in an on line news paper ,I did say on the news, tv news coverage.

The claims the press are anti Megan is wrong , the problems come from her American friends and her family speaking to the media.

I may be wrong but I don’t believe her mobile number hasn’t been change , if she had kept the old number she would have been quite easy to trace, security would not have allowed this . Her father said he had texted her many times, her friends by claiming she has the old number are claiming he is a liar. It’s all rather sordid now, I think she is playing a stupid game by reaching the media through friends .

Iam64 Wed 13-Feb-19 19:46:09

Kate's meetings relating to children's mental health were covered in the Daily Wail on line.

Day 6 my understanding of history is that the royals have always mixed and mingled with celebrity. Nell Gynne instantly leaps to mind. I was struck by what I saw as snobbery in your reference to the Clooney's as 'social climbers', what's that based on?
Enough already - who'd be a female joining the RF. Nightmare being the focus of positive media attention until it turns into entirely negative.

Anniebach Wed 13-Feb-19 18:52:56

Megan appears at fashion awards and it’s on the news. Not a squeak that Kate is attending meetings relating to childrens mental health .

Day6 Wed 13-Feb-19 18:35:34

Ah, but we live in the age of celebs publicly sucking up to royalty. (Royals have had celebrity friends in the past but in those days, discretion was the name of the game and social circles were known only to the aristocracy)

Now, they all need the cachet of being seen hobnobbing with the Windsors.

Posh by association is what it's about. Robbie Williams. Ugh. And the Beckhams. And James Corden. And now Hollywood royalty in the form of the social-climbing Clooneys.

Are the royals aware this only weakens/cheapens their mystique and position and highlights the fact they are very wealthy, superficial people seen to be swanning around with dubious celebs with very little purpose?

The Queen and Charles are old school royalty. If we have to have a royal family it should be law (joke) that their off-spring retain the dignity.

Anniebach Wed 13-Feb-19 18:08:30

I agree Jennifer, and today another friend, George Clooney, claims she is being treated like Diana was, silly man doesn’t seem to know the press adored Diana and she certaintly loved the press. She is suddenly playing the victim it seems, the press haven’t critcised her , they have reported what her friends and family have said in interviews. I fear she will try to be Harry’s mother !

PECS Wed 13-Feb-19 18:08:03

I was under the impression that the Buck House PR team would be vetting most correspondence going out and that D of S would be a prime target for them to be monitoring due to pre-wedding /wedding kerfuffle. Different when Fergie and Diana were no longer 'official'

JenniferEccles Wed 13-Feb-19 17:40:20

Isn't this incredibly hypocritical of Meghan? She lambasts her father for using the press to air his views on their estrangement, yet is now doing exactly the same herself.

I am certain she colluded with these five friends (who were anonymous f course) to paint a rosy picture of what a wonderful person she is, a caring daughter for an ungrateful nightmare of a father.

Yes of course he was wrong to get involved with that daft CCTV scam before the wedding, for which he has apologised, but isn't Meghan now behaving in exactly the same way via those friends?

It all smacks of a really tacky PR stunt.

Sarcasam is the lowest form of wit, but no doubt you will say it was a sincere suggestion ?

Anniebach Tue 12-Feb-19 18:31:14

Bridgeit, I really think you should not read the politics threads I fear they really will be too much for you

sodapop Tue 12-Feb-19 17:57:43

People are entitled to their views even if we disagree, back to bland and boring I suppose.

Luckylegs9 Tue 12-Feb-19 16:15:38

Maw room, apologies for the feline reference, it should have been, left behind. I checked through that before posting and did not spot anything untoward, I have been told it's prescriptive text that is responsible. I will refrain from posting, I love reading other people's views and I just wanted to convey I don't like Megan's way of handling people, particularly her own family. I have checked this do will read it after posting to find mistakes.?

Bridgeit Tue 12-Feb-19 15:24:05

Thankyou for posting Brismum. So pleased to read you feel the same.

Annie is there really 98 posts? Shameful, I am afraid just reading the current page was enough for me.

Anniebach Tue 12-Feb-19 15:15:15

But why read 98 posts on a thread allegedly disgraceful?

Brismum Tue 12-Feb-19 15:09:58

Well put Bridgeit. I have been watching but not commenting as rather lost for words ?. Seems Meghan can’t do anything right at the moment!

Bridgeit Tue 12-Feb-19 14:43:16

What a thoroughly distasteful thread /topic this is.
So many judgements & supposition .Such arrogance by some posters to believe that their interruption of all they have seen & read has given them the right to say it as a truth. Quite shameful IMHO.
Have we not learnt anything from the past!

Anniebach Tue 12-Feb-19 10:41:25

Framilode yes the early editions , but that was about her antics on the Fayed yacht, until then the press adored her so she wasn’t attacked by the press .

Framilode Tue 12-Feb-19 10:27:23

AnnieIf you think back to the morning Diana died the early editions of the newspapers were highly critical of her. After her death all that changed.

I think the press were about to start gunning for her - and then there was the accident.

Anniebach Tue 12-Feb-19 10:06:01

Believe rubbish ? Her friends gave interviews to the press, fact, her father published the letter , fact.

The press didn not turn against Diana Fact

dorsetpennt Tue 12-Feb-19 09:32:30

Why do people believe all this rubbish. Talking as if they really know the ins and outs of Meghan and Harry's personal life . I'm fed up with hearing about Saint Diana, I'm sure she was a wonderful mother but so am I and a grandmother . The press adored her and Fergie then turned on them. Now it's the present royal ladys' turn.
