A Brexit supporter died after being savagely beaten and threatened with being set on fire during a row over Britain’s membership of the European Union (EU).

Duncan Keating, 58, was attacked by his Remain-supporting neighbour, Graham Dunn, in Ancoats, Manchester, during a furious argument over the result of the EU referendum.

Dunn, 62, hit his victim with a parasol, punched him repeatedly and threatened to set him
on fire, according to the Manchester Evening News.

I would have thought that we have had more than enough opportunity to say all there is to be said without fanning the flames of dissension to keep them warm. I am seeing the same abuse rehashed more often than a Sunday roast destined to feed the family for a fortnight.
And I am not discriminating as to whether it is Leave ▶️Remain opinions or Remain ▶️Leave factions.

Vandals have targeted pro-Remain homes, cars and offices with smashed windows, thrown paint, and "traitor" daubed on walls in a spate of attacks around the EU elections.

Bright red paint was thrown at the windows and signage of the Liberal Democrat offices in Hailsham, East Sussex, the day before the elections.
Former councillor and building trustee Steve Murphy is overseeing the cleanup. "If you wanted to vent your spleen I suppose ... but why carry a bucket of red lead paint?" he said.
"It ain't going to wash off," he added. "It'll take turps."

The office windows had also been smashed two weeks earlier, although Murphy acknowledged that this may not have been political as numerous nearby places had also been vandalised.

The community has rallied around the Hailsham Lib Dems, with one anonymous well-wisher taping a letter to their front door saying "it says nothing about you and everything about them", and congratulating the party on their success in the EU elections.
It is not a lone incident. In Wiltshire, safety and environmental manager and Remain supporter Pete Creese found a week after the elections that cream emulsion had been thrown over his car, as well as the EU flag displayed outside his home in the quiet village of Beanacre.
"I thought rather a large bird had done something on the window, and then I saw the flag covered in paint," said Pete, who has reported it to the police.
"The thing that struck me was - somebody might see the flag and object to it but why go away and get paint?

"Why should people be able to intimidate me?
"I don't condone throwing milkshakes but it's a different thing," he added.

Sussex police are also investigating two attacks made soon after the elections in Lewes.
Two houses displaying Lib Dem posters had their windows put through with bricks in the early hours of the morning.
Sussex police told the New European that the attacks "appear to be linked to political campaigning posters on display".
According to local paper the Argus, a nearby house displaying EU flags had recently been spray painted with the word "traitor".
Edwina Livesey, whose windows were smashed, told the paper: "This is a hate crime."
"They were targeting us because of our political views.
"It wasn't just some drunken behaviour, the brick they used came from somewhere else, it wasn't just picked up in the street.
"They are deliberately targeting."

Isn't there a difference between immigration and the taking in of refugees. Has Brexit [or the Brexit campaign] blurred the lines somewhat?

I see that a centre left party is predicted to take power in Denmark this week. The country that's always been held up as a beacon of harmonious immigration. It appears that they are going to win on a ticket of immigration.
One plan of their new immigration policy will be to send all non European asylum seekers to a detention centre in North Africa.

People who have LibDem posters on their houses are getting paint thrown over the house/car etc. People going on Peoples Vote marches are beaten up on the way home etc. How can anyone not be concerned that this is happening in this country?

I still believe we should respect the result of the referendum. I have little doubt that a second one would go the same way, and if it didn't I think that those who voted leave first time would feel deeply betrayed and it could deeply undermine further an already very precarious democracy.

Democracy is not a precision instrument it is rough and ready tool and we have to take the rough with the smooth.

It is not Brexit which is splitting up families, it is the families' own attitudes to each other over their personal choices. If it wasn't Brexit, it would be something else which gives people an excuse to behave in an obnoxious way to others.

Thank goodness we are not, but I dread to think what would happen if the Labour party do not get a grip on the Semitism within the party and then win power.
