Mine was Paul McCartney in the 1960s.

The only two I can recall:

As a very young girl -- probably three or four, certainly no older than five -- I remember sitting on my Grandmothers floor, watching 'Roots' and commenting that LeVar Burton's "Kunta Kinte" was pretty.

Flash forward to the mid-80s, I was entering my early teens and I had a short lived fondness for Rob Lowe.

I adored Prince Philip and had a centrefold picture of him from the Girl comic pinned up in my bedroom. I was so jealous of the Queen. He’s still got a look about him even at his advanced age, bless him....

To avoid any misunderstanding, Phil was fully dressed in his Navy uniform.

Tony Crane of the Merseybeats. I hitchhiked to see their concerts as well as seeing them in place I lived.

Met him a couple of times and have a photo taken of me with him. Lovely man.

Robert Horton in Wagon Train and envied him his horse (Topaz?). Closely followed by Adam Faith.

I can remember rather liking Robert Horton, too, but my first real crush was Ed Byrnes, who played "Kookie" on 77 Sunset Strip. Living in our council house in late 50's Stevenage, the whole programme seemed to belong on another planet, and I just loved Kookie with his fair hair and ever-present comb. Later, just coming in before the Beatles (my favourite was Paul), I loved Terence Stamp. I wrote to him and he wrote back with a signed photo, too. I had his picture on the inside of my school desk, but someone stole it! I still rather like him, now he and I are a lot, lot older!

Same here, Grannybags. Billy Fury when I was 10 too. Later, Steve McQueen - I saw The Great Escape about a dozen times.

I was totally in love with David Cassidy. lol

Paul Jones of Manfred Mann. I had his photo on the ceiling above my bed. I argued with ny dad once (not acceptable in the 60s) and he tore it down.

I finally got to meet him in the 1990s. He was doing an open air jazz concert at Castleward. He gave me a big hug (I felt like a teenager for a moment!) and autographed my M&S fruit pie packet- the only paper we had. Better late than never!

Levi Stubbs...lead singer with the Four Tops.
I was transfixed.

Yes Merlot. I’d never seen one before and relished the knowledge - a blanket spotted Appaloosa!

Manitas de Plata when I was about 12. I loved the ‘Romany’ books and Manitas playing guitar looked the perfect wild gypsy to me.

Grandad1943 Sun 27-Oct-19 07:32:43

Without a doubt, for me it was Helen Shapiro in the early i960s. I was fifteen and just started work when she made the record "you don't know".

On my first solo holiday with my mates, I remember listening to her sing that on Radio Luxemburg while we on a tent holiday at Weymouth late one night, wonderful stuff.

You Know, even to this day I feel had she had played her cards right she could have had me. ??
