DH didn't even notice I had gone out !!

When I was a kid I fell out with my dad and I stormed out of the house. I decided I was running away. It was early evening so I walked to the shops. There was nobody about as the shops were closed. I didn't know where else to go so I reluctantly walked home. You've guessed it. They hadn't noticed I was gone!

Frank Skinner has a gag about how marital arguments are like concerts by the good old band - they start with the new stuff but end up playing the old favourites. Or is that just us?

One xmas eve my husband did not come home early as he said he would and that could only mean one thing. He was out ‘just having a quick one’. Why this surprised me I will never know as it happened every year. I was furious having spent the day with three kids cleaning the house ready for the next day and for a guest who was coming. I packed us all up and we went to a local cafe and had our dinner there. We came home as he arrived expecting everything to be sunshine. He was so cross that we had gone without him. This could have developed into a big argument but our guest arrived and they settled on a Chinese takeaway. Now that we are retired he helps with the housework and was moaning about it on xmas eve. I reminded him that I used todo it all on my own and then he would come home tiddly and expect me to be full of the joys of xmas. I am hoping that maybe he was beginning to understand ..........

Wheres my tea? Oh the wife has gone out damn and blast it .lol

Ha ha ...I can relate to that .. I flew back to the UK and phoned my husband when I arrived ...he said ? I thought you were in the garage ……..say no more !

I can't seem to stop my husband noticing when I go out these days not even when he is out. You see we have installed smart home cameras and doorbell and he gets notified every time there is action by the front door or in the back garden! It's really creepy when he asks "Is it nice out?"

A few days after an argument my then husband said, “I suppose you realised I haven’t been speaking to you?”

I hadn’t not at all maybe that’s why he is an ex?

My husband shaved his beard off one day and we sat watching TV all evening and I didn’t notice.

Arriving in London for the first time to spend the day we argued about what we should do first.A tour bus was passing so he jumped on and shouted see you here at 4.00. I was afraid of not finding this meetinģ point in a strange city so I had my hair done and waited in a nearby hotel.We were never on the same wavelength.

He'd have noticed if he fancied a cup of tea

Ruddy men! They never want anything new do they? We are always having 'debates' on things for the house and garden then we end up not changing anything.

On holiday in Florence our group were taken to the main square and we visited various churches, etc. At one point I left the group (I'm sure I told him I was going) and went across the square to take photos at an Italian wedding which was taking place. When I went back to where I had left the group they were nowhere to be seen, and neither was he! Obviously he didn't even notice I was missing!!! It was pretty scary as I didn't even know where the coach had been parked and the Italian policeman wasn't able to help. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I eventually walked across the square and started walking up a side street when, wonder of wonders, there he was coming the other way to look for me! I was so pleased to see him I couldn't be angry. I've never let him forget it though!

In my teens, my best friend’s mother told me that her husband, who was away at sea for months, came home after a long trip on a summer’s day, walked through the front door, looked at his son on the couch with measles and out into the garden, where he started gardening without a word to anyone.

but do you really need new wardrobes ?

My neighbour during one winter had to struggle to get her old car up the steep drive every day, her husband said she didn’t need a new one. However, when his had to use hers for a week, as his had to be repaired, guess what happened. Who got her new car.

My DH and I have always had a volatile relationship. We'll be fine for months and then something will happen and all hell breaks loose. We're both stubborn and fail to see each other's point of view. It's usually over something trivial which then escalates. We've been like this for almost 43 years. How we've lasted God only knows! Anyway we decided this New Year that we're not doing it anymore and so far so good 28 days in and no arguments! Wish us luck GNers

Lilypops, DH and I have been out today and during the afternoon, we went looking at wardrobes.
If we change them, I only really want sliding doors, to replace the doors on our fitted wardrobes.
Perhaps we should search together. Mind you I may probably change my mind tomorrow ?

After complaining about how hard it was to cut the considerable amount of grass we had on our corner plot when I was heavily pregnant my (ex) husband bought me long handled shears so I didn't have to bend down.

He did notice you were gone but didn`t want you to know it.
They never really grow up and I think that`s what we like about them hahaha.

Loved your post. On Sunday cold day, I was drying the dog outside and my back went. Managed eventually to lie on my back but couldn’t get up. My husband came out and the first thing he said was “do you want a cup of tea” I wonder how long I’d have stayed there before he noticed! His second comment was I thought you were looking at something in the sky. It’s January and cold.

I hope you just buy the wardrobes Lilypops. He won't even notice!
