I had a horrible relationship with my last freezer, sometimes I ended up in tears of frustration and had to go running to neighbours for help.
Then JL finally admitted it was faulty and replaced it.

How long can a freezer stay in working order without power?
I don't really understand the question. It won't work without the power on.
If someone has given you a freezer, you need to let it stand for about 4 hours before turning it on, then leave it for a while longer before you fill it with frozen food.

If you have fresh food best to freeze it in stages.

Not sure I could cope with a needy freezer!!

my garden glut freezer is turned on in August/September as the surplusfruit and veg starts coming in and is just about to be turned off. I took the last of the crop, a container of stewed apples and a bag of blackberries out today. There are a couple of small items left and I will find space for them in my main freezer tomorrow.

Should have added. The freezer will then be turned off and left with the lid slightly open for the next 7/8 months.

Does it have a fast freeze option?
You need to turn that on if you put fresh food in it.

Put tea bags ( dry, not used!) inside as well as this stops any musty smells. It really does work.
