Happy Birthday beautybumble. Next time you go shopping buy something for yourself, perhaps a bunch of roses, some yummy chocolates, whatever you fancy.

I know what you mean about feeling unimportant, when any of my family go on holiday, have something important going on etc, I always text or phone to wish them a happy holiday or good luck etc. We recently went away for a few days and not one happy holiday text and I wasn't even asked if we had a good time when we got back! I don't think anyone had remembered we were going away and we obviously weren't missed. Oh well we had a good time.

I honestly think that our children do not always understand how lonely it is being older. They have such busy lives and dash about all the time that it is hard for them to imagine what it is like. I know I did not understand when I was in the throes of young family hustle and bustle.

You are not unimportant - not in the least. I am sure they value all you do and have done for them - they maybe just forget to show it. We all take/took our mums for granted in one degree or another, but that does not mean they were not important.

Have a glass of something nice for me - I can't drink alcohol - but would join you in a toast if I could!

Hi. Today is my birthday and I've been completely alone all day. I don't usually expect much these days now I'm in my mid 70s, but today I didn't receive a card, a present or even a phone call until after 9pm when my son called. Like most grans I help out a lot. I don't ask them for anything but always there for them anytime. Its only a birthday I know, but it did hit me how so unimportant I am. I search for the best gifts I can find when its their day. I feel so alone. There thats the rant over, I feel better now.
