DIY Divorce Gov UK Website

At times I have thought about getting a divorce, have been separated 16 years and all straight forward. Am I right that I can complete a Divorce Application Form D8 from the Gov UK website, fill in the form and send it off and it costs £612. (My main reason for a divorce is my pension. If my husband remains my spouse, he will get an amount of my private pension. Will he also get some of my state pension or does that die with me). Has anyone taken this route for a divorce please. Any help would be much appreciated and many thanks in advance.

Before divorcing you and your husband have to agree on any financial split. If there is no entitlement on either side you can apply for a divorce. If there is entitlement you must reach an agreement and gain a court consent order £60, then you can divorce. Provided you agree it's all very straightforward, if you don't agree then see a solicitor, in fact I'd advise you see one anyway to clarify your pensions n situation. Good luck.

Is free to get half and hour with a solicitor but in my opinion worth paying the extra bit for an hour before you go ahead "DIY.

As OldFrill said, just paying the basics only means you and your Ex agree especially on the lot, especially the finances and he signs off on everything you want.
