New life after death?

My Dad used to say that we achieve immortality through our children. He had no time for the religious concept of life after death.

Anyway, I think of him every day, so he lives on in our memories, and through his children and grandchildren who display some of his traits.

I had my youngest just 6 months before he died.

I have never thought of it like that, but yes in our family we had a population explosion after my father died eight years ago. He was a grandfather of eight and great grandfather to two, since he died there have been ten new great grandchildren and another on the way. In one year alone seven great grandchildren arrived.
My six year old GD (the oldest of the ten grandchildren born after dad passed) sometimes asks about my father and recently said to me that he would have liked to have met her. I am sure he would have too!

Agree with this concept. My Mum died in March 2008. By March 2010 we had 4 new babies in the family - 4 new greatgrandchildren for her. Since then. another 2 have arrived and 1 more is expected. My niece summed up how we all felt when she said 'Gran may be up there watching over us, but she still can't resist meddling!' In choosing names for the babies, Mum's and Dad's have been included for 4 of their GC's and 5 GGC's.

This has happened quite a few times in our family.

It seems to me that when someone dies a new pregnancy is announced or a new baby born, I have spoken to my friend about this and she agrees, she said her ex husband died to make way for her new grandaughter. My father died and my son announced his wife was having a baby.
