Transfiguration Sunday when Jesus went with three of his disciples onto a mountain, and when they were there Jesus began to shine with rays of bright light. Then the prophets Moses and Elijah appeared and God's voice, from behind a bright cloud, said "This is my son with whom I am well pleased".

You may not believe any of them, but there are some great stories in the Bible. smile

Happy Transfiguration Sunday.

j08 Were you given a religious calendar or some such thing for Christmas? I agree that the Bible is full of great stories but I don't think this is one of them.

I guess it depends on the depth of you imagination as to how well you can picture the scene.

No. No calendar. But there is this vicar...... wink

There are lots of good fairy stories outside the bible too. Often easy to imagine, not necessarily to like.

The transfiguration is in the bible, but I thought those words were at the baptism of Christ?

"We must trust in the mighty power of God’s mercy. We are all sinners, but His grace transforms us and makes us new." - Benedict XVI on Twitter today.

Yes you DID want to know that.

j08 Sun 10-Feb-13 11:42:27

Yeah Galen! Perhaps he said it then as well. confused

Whoops! Got it wrong!. What was said was "This is my Son, my chosen one. Listen to him"

Similar.

Beautiful new window depicting the Transfiguration in Durham Cathedral. Even if you are baffled by the subject matter the workmanship is breathtaking .

Wish Durham wasn't other end of the country! envy

j08 It's worth a short trip to the North-east just to see Durham cathedral which I reckon is a match for any of the great cathedrals of Europe. There's also lots of other really interesting things to see up here.

Like the picture, jo! Especially the disciple falling head first down the mountain. Our Sunday School children made some impressive mountains this morning.

j08 Sun 10-Feb-13 12:43:25

Oh, that's lovely! smile

Yes, the picture is interesting in style. grin

I think I might have that pic as my desktop background for a while. It's quite cheery! grin
