I think a lot of the weird 'saints' you encounter in Cornwall - St Erney, St Blazey, St Fimbarus, St Piran and the rest, were probably Druidic 'holy'-men... although Fimbarus was Finn Bar, a bishop of Cork as far as I can remember.

is St Piran’s day, patron saint of tin miners and Cornwall. The heathen irish tied him to a mill stone and rolled him over the edge of a cliff but he floated safely onto the beach of Perranzabuloe. Today the Cornish celebrate his day by getting as drunk as "piranurs".
