Has anyone else, without proof positive been fascinated with the afterlife, spiritual communication etc? I have been since aged 8

Anniebach Mon 19-Oct-15 10:32:19

Ooops, thanks Alea, apology to Rose white - think I need a holiday

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 10:19:57

Your remark was fine whitewave. Yes. This thread was always bound to be a little weird grin

Elegran Mon 19-Oct-15 10:17:28

The OP doesn't just mention the afterlife (ie in heaven or the Other Place) but also spiritual communication. That is what all the stories about seeing and hearing strange things are about, and some of us are pointing out that the brain interprets digital input as sound, sight, smell etc and can get it wrong.

Epileptic smells are not constant, btw, they come and go, particularly just before a seizure - which can be a small inconspicuous one, not a dramatic falling about.

The supposed religious beliefs of the OP - Satan getting our souls if we use our God-given brains to examine the statements in the Bible, Jesus coming again to slaughter mediums (what about prophets who are channelling God's messages about coming back to slaughter - are they to be slaughtered too?) could easily be confused with the pronouncements of a mischievous schoolchild filling in half-term by winding up the "auld biddies".

I am not intolerant * jing* just think the thread is weird. People can believe what they like.

Alea Mon 19-Oct-15 09:50:25

I make no apologies for being sceptical, but "talking in sentences " before the age of one" Spiritual(Sunday 17.57) , really? hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 09:48:50

Just have a bit of Christian tolerance maybe? Or any other kind of tolerance.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 09:47:19

Is this really a thread to get all confrontational and demanding on? hmm

whitewave Mon 19-Oct-15 09:43:47

This thread is so weird.

Alea Mon 19-Oct-15 09:38:18

<whispers> rosewhite, Anniebach, you make her sound like my favourite supermarket!grin

Anniebach Mon 19-Oct-15 09:31:13

Whiterose, claimed Christ would return and carry out killings, I strongly object to this , I have not read this in the bible as claimed by whiterose and so I asked where whiterose read it.

hildajenniJ Mon 19-Oct-15 09:14:53

In that case wouldn't the smells be there most of the time! I get the occasional smell of stale cigarette smoke around me. I am convinced that it is my late uncle, who was a heavy smoker until very late in his life. I may be quite wrong but hey ho!

harrigran Mon 19-Oct-15 01:08:13

Have to agree with Elegran smelling things that are not there can an be an indication of Epilepsy and some smells are associated with brain tumours or strokes even PD and Alzheimer's.
The bible is a story book.

mrsmopp Mon 19-Oct-15 00:24:09

Well, not really, Any, the question is asking about the afterlife, which is life after death, surely?

Alea Mon 19-Oct-15 00:05:07

I know it isn't mrs mopp, you can blame rosewhite for introducing that element. She was being challenged for "chapter and verse" (Anniebach, 19.11) to back up her dire prognostications.
Nor is it as far as I can see about the Christian idea of the hereafter, but the possibility of communication with the dead either directly or through mediums, with reincarnation and "previous" lives.

mrsmopp Sun 18-Oct-15 23:55:36

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3.16

Look elsewhere for your slaying quote Alea, that is not what this thread is about.

Alea Sun 18-Oct-15 23:40:21

Nope. Not that one, mrs Mopp, good as it is, but we want the one about the slaying.

mrsmopp Sun 18-Oct-15 23:31:59

I am the Resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever believes in me will never die.
John 11.25

Anniebach Sun 18-Oct-15 19:11:26

Perhaps rosewhjte would give book, chapter and verse from the Bible where it states Christ will carry out all this slaying when he returns

Balini Sun 18-Oct-15 18:34:01

Sorry Anya, anyang was an iPad blip.

Balini Sun 18-Oct-15 18:32:11

Thank to, not too old and Anyang, for I your kind words.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 18-Oct-15 18:26:10

Yep! I think this thread could last till the 31st.

Spiritual Sun 18-Oct-15 17:57:55

I certainly believe in an after life. I have seen and smelt my Mum. I belong to the Spiritualist Church and have had such clear evidence and messages from my loved ones in spirit. Messages and things that no one else could possibly know. My daughter used to see spirit and named them and could pick them out from photographs from before she was 1 year of age. (Yes, she was talking in sentences from a very early age.) Sorry but I do not believe I am mad. No one else thinks I am but those are my beliefs. I could go on and on with stories and people who do believe in the same things as me.

Elegran Sun 18-Oct-15 17:21:53

Yo are right, boheminan. That is what she said. It is not what Jesus said, though, so I don't think she can be considered an expert on the subject.

rosesarered Sun 18-Oct-15 17:17:39

Yes, well, I wouldn't give any credence to anything she said.grin

boheminan Sun 18-Oct-15 17:02:39

roses and elegran. I stand corrected, but the last line on rosewhite's thread reads that Jesus was going to slaughter all Mediums when he returns in a few years timehmm - which to me, is, well a bit 'off' grin
