White feathers.

Two months after my mother died we had a family get-together and as we were about to sit down for lunch a white feather floated in through the kitchen window.

I didn't pay it any attention because two of our hens are white but one of the DGDs announced, 'It's GG!'

I must admit it stopped us in our tracks and we all laughed about the way she hated to be left out of anything.

Yes after my father passed away I found a little white feather in our porch. My sister also had one at her door.
Not long after a close family member had died, I was getting the shopping out of the car boot, when a little white feather fluttered over my shoulder and into the boot landing on the shopping.
It made me smile as the lady loved to shop!

A sign ? Who knows.
A comfort? yes

I've never seen white feathers but I do smell things. You can sometimes smell Dad's baccy in Mam's house even though he died before she moved there and she doesn't smoke.

I also occasionally smell baccy in my house. An old man used to live here and I don't think he's every truly left.

Next door is an empty house but DH, me and visitors have all heard the sounds of children laughing and playing. The first time it happened I phoned the owner who rushed over thinking that children had got into the house but everything was still locked up and there was no sign of anyone.

I haven't seen white feathers neither but I did take the dog out the other week and I stopped on the road abruptly, lying in front of me was a 1p. A penny from heaven. I took it home, put the date on paper, taped it on and will make a Pennies from Heaven container to keep my little "messages" in.

I have had a bad day today, health wise, and was thinking that I am going to have to send my son in a van to University with his ol' cock linnet instead of me taking him. I was hoping that he would get in and then I could get better as he does cause me stress. I needed to find my decree absolute to send to student finance to make sure he is funded. I was feeling awful, moved a writing pad under the table and found my decree absolute, just sitting there. Someone was watching over me and I know my son will be ok, get his place and his money and settle in well. I expected the decree to be in my paperwork, but it wasn't, it was on it's own, somewhere I normally wouldn't have looked for it. It's a feeling that I get, knowing someone is looking out for me.

I smell things too. Shortly after my father died, I was tidying up my own home when I noticed a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Nobody smoked in my house but dad was a heavy smoker. On another occasion when I was going through a particularly stressful time, there was a powerful smell of whiskey. I was convinced that my son had raided the drinks cabinet and insisted on checking his breath! He thought I'd gone bonkers. Then I remembered that dad's favourite tipple was whiskey.
Maybe it was my brain playing tricks but whatever it was, it made me feel better.

on the morning of my mother's funeral i was on the phone to my sister who was sobbing and so distressed about the forthcoming event later that day. While trying to comfort her i turned and was facing the window at the back of my lounge. All of a sudden a bird appeared that i had never seen before. It was pale greyish brown with yellow markings and about the size of a blackbird. I watched as it flew close to the window then dropped to the floor and pecked around on the ground outside. I swear it was my mother who sent it as a sign she was still with us. I told my sister about it and she gained some comfort and the strength to get through the rest of the day. The following week when i was back at work i felt very tearful one morning reflecting on all that had happened relating to mum and i went into the staff room to compose myself. Outside there was a small garden area with a stream and the very same bird appeared!!! I am totally convinced my mother sent it again to comfort me. I have never seen this bird again.

After my uncle who I considered to be more a brother died suddenly I would often smell his cigar.
Like you say florentina may be brain playing tricks but a comfort.

When I get up in the morning I pull back the covers and open the window. Shortly after my DH died I went back upstairs to make the bed and found a white feather on the pillow his side of the bed. Since then there have been a number of incidents which convince me he is still watching over me - yes, it is comforting.

I'm so pleased that all of you have had comfort from this....... I don't know what you call it. I know I have.

I have never heard of this, I can see how it would bring a little k and comfort. I thought at first it was about 1st WW pacifists and their bullying.
