Thank you all for sharing with me . As there are seven words I thought one a day will take us to Good Friday so I will post the first tomorrow.

Anyone read 'Who Moved The Stone' written by Frank Morrison? I read it many years ago. It's known as the book that wouldn't be written. He was a journalist who set out to write a book dismissing the resurrection as a myth, did much research , it is available on kindle .

grannyactivist, beautiful poem.

Teetime, Darth Vadar and Christmas ? ? Sorry it caused you upset but it has given me a giggle, what on earth was he trying to say to you

Holy Week is the centre of our faith, I long ago gave up trying not to cry during the Good Friday service . Such pain, such sorrow which gives the most precious gift of hope .

And perhaps for those who do not share this hope an understanding

I know how important Holy Week is. Far more important than Christmas. I'll read your posts Anniebach.

I love Easter as it promises hope it was always the best time in church for me. Sadly although we have a beautiful church here which has been extensively restored we have a Rector who thinks his role is to dress up as various characters yes he does dress as the Easter Bunny on Easter Sunday and I still haven't forgiven him for Darth Vader to conduct the Christmas Day service a couple of years ago. so in short we wont be going to church so being with you all on here to share the Easter message will be lovely. Thank you.

Thanks for this Annie.
I love Christmas, but as a Christian it is Easter that moves me and is the bedrock of my faith. One of the Easter poems that I find very moving is the one below; written by an atheist about Jesus.

Easter Hymn

If in that Syrian garden, ages slain,
You sleep, and know not you are dead in vain,
Nor even in dreams behold how dark and bright
Ascends in smoke and fire by day and night
The hate you died to quench and could but fan,
Sleep well and see no morning, son of man.

But if, the grave rent and the stone rolled by,
At the right hand of majesty on high
You sit, and sitting so remember yet
Your tears, your agony and bloody sweat,
Your cross and passion and the life you gave,
Bow hither out of heaven and see and save.
A. E. Housman (1859-1936)

And me, Annie.

I will too, Annie, if you don't mind.

I haven't thought about Holy Week for years and up popped this thread just when I was remembering things about my church going younger days.

I will share Annie.

Greenfinch Fri 23-Mar-18 09:38:21

Next week is Holy Week and this year I am not able to share
The Words From The Cross with others.

If I post one every day starting tomorrow I hope someone here will read and so share with me
