A prayer for peace

Father God, we have learned today of yet another violent attack on innocent people who were attending their daily worship.

We pray the love and peace your beloved son taught us will
enter the hearts of those who are filled with hatred and those who defend the hatred .

We ask in the name of your son Jesus Christ

Amen to that prayer Annie
Good point baggs, that freedom to pray, no matter what the religion is so important to preserve.
Yes starbird, if we can look at history without rose tinted specs, we learn a lot about the world today.

Amen .

Amen to the prayer.

What is getting worse is that individuals can get hold of weapons of mass destruction more easily, make their own bombs etc.

Prayers can be answered in a variety of ways, sometimes the answer seems to be no or ‘look for the answer yourself because I have already given it! ‘ Praying can focus our attention in the right direction, and apart from that we can counter prejudice and hatred whenever we encounter it. If we were taught an honest account of World history it would help to put the present into perspective and remind us that land boundaries and ownership of resources were largely imposed/taken by European countries, leaving conflict and poverty in their wake.

As our ancestors came from Africa, unless we still live there, we are all immigrants. If we go by a ‘first come’ basis, New Zealand belongs to the Maories.

I should clarify: free and developed nations do not go to war with each other.

There will always be evil people who do evil things like the attack in Christchurch. What's important is that we do not think things like this are getting worse. They aren't. There is less violence in the world than ever before.

Like absent I doubt if prayers for peace, which have probably happened since the year dot, make any difference. Other things do though: human progress and democracy, for instance. Developed nations of the world do not go to war any more. This is good news.

I like that people are free to pray for peace if they want to. That's good too.

How much worse the world may have been without the prayers of so many ,absent.

How many times have people prayed for peace? How many times has it been answered? But, of course, if you want to pray for peace, nobody should try to stop you.
