Has anyone had met or seen a Faery? By these, I really meant those that Rudolph Steiner would have called an Elemental?

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 20:46:21

You have closed your mind to the fact they dont exist.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 20:42:49

I'm not using science. I'm trying to show that if someone closes their minds to possibilities then they risk missing so much.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 20:40:49

OK so we put a mouse in a box and we call it Vamp's mouse. We put something in the box that could kill the mouse but we don't know that it will kill the mouse and we leave it for a while. Is Vamp's mouse dead or alive? We don't know so it's dead and alive at the same time until we open the box and see for ourselves.

The same idea works for faeries and other things that cannot be explained or proven. Faeries may or may not exist so technically they do and don't exist until we see the evidence, in this case a faerie, with our own eyes. We cannot give a definitive answer so it becomes a matter of faith. I believe in faeries other people don't believe in faeries. I may be right or they may be right but at this moment in time we're both right.

Here we go with the quantum mechanics again.

Schrodinger's cat does not explain why there are fairies. Unless fairies have collapsing wavefunctions. Do they have collapsing wavefunctions?

As I've said before, people are entitled to believe what they like. But they are not entitled to try to justify their beliefs by making things up about science.

VQ beautifully explained

Stormystar Fri 15-Jan-21 20:20:23

Galaxy Thanks for pointing out my clumsy use of language. My thought is we do not know what we do not know and we cannot experience what we close our minds to. “Knock and the door shall be opened Ask and it shall be given “ apologies in advance to those who are offended by quotes from brilliant minds.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 20:18:20

It's a bit like Schrödinger's cat. Until you open the box there is no way of knowing if the cat is dead or alive so in effect it is both dead and alive at the same time.

The same can be said of faith or any other belief (scientific or otherwise). Faeries remain hidden from people so until someone finds one they may or may not exist. But if you close your mind to the possibility that something as unbelievable as faeries may exist what other wonderous things might you miss.

Alegrias1 Fri 15-Jan-21 20:15:23

You know that would have been me Chewbacca ???

Chewbacca Fri 15-Jan-21 20:10:57

That's beautiful janeainsworth, the frost on the garden this morning was wondrous. I spotted a beautiful spider's web strung across my car this morning; it's was so intricate and delicate, truly a piece of magic. yes, I know it's not really, before anyone jumps in to tell me the mechanics of it

Alegrias1 Fri 15-Jan-21 20:06:18

Beautiful pictures janeainsworth. I envy you seeing the conjunction, it was cloudy here!

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 20:00:19

Open the doors of perception that are somehow closed in your minds seems to me go imply that our minds are closed because we dont think as you do.

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 19:57:38

I wouldnt do it directly to individuals as that's just rude but I think belief systems need ridicule so Life of Brian etc are important.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 19:51:18

I would never ridicule anyone for anything they believe. I may debate and discuss belief but at the end of the day it is totally disrespectful to dismiss someone's beliefs.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 19:47:18

Galaxy, is it OK to ridicule someone for their religious beliefs? Would you ridicule believers in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Baha'i, Zoroastrianism, Shinto or any other religion? The belief in a religion demands faith in something that cannot be seen nor proven. The belief in faeries, little people and natural spirits demands faith in something that cannot be seen nor proven. Faith in itself demands a belief in something that cannot be proven or disproven.

Stormystar Fri 15-Jan-21 19:41:05

Galaxy please explain how I have ridiculed people’s beliefs it was most certainly not my intention.

Stormystar Fri 15-Jan-21 19:28:48

Yes totally agree Alegrias1 all absolutely brilliant and incredibly awesome And as long as you have all you need your content that’s great ! For you. But others long for more and what we seek we often find, and this can be manifested in somewhat strange and unimaginable ways As we know neuro diversity has revealed there is not one fixed way of apprehending reality .

janeainsworth Fri 15-Jan-21 19:28:00

And here is the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter, from above Wylam, Northumberland

janeainsworth Fri 15-Jan-21 19:25:14

I experience awe and wonder all the time
So do I Alegrias.
Even confined to my own house and garden, it is all around me.
Here is a moment of awe and wonder I captured in my garden this morning.

Alegrias1 Fri 15-Jan-21 19:07:43

taking care

Alegrias1 Fri 15-Jan-21 19:07:21

I experience awe and wonder all the time.

Lately, for instance, in the development of a vaccine for COVID within 1 year of its emergence.

The dedication of the medical and care people who are talking care of us just now.

The discovery of phosphine in the atmosphere of Venus recently, because phosphine is usually associated with the existence of microbes.

When the Z-boson was discovered at CERN I couldn't sleep for excitement. (True. Sad, but true....)

This reality is pretty damn wonderous, I don't need any other.

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 19:06:22

I think its also absolutely fine to ridicule people for their beliefs, stormystar has just demonstrated that perfectly.

Stormystar Fri 15-Jan-21 18:53:04

I do hope that all you doubting Thomases will experience the awe and wonder the mystery of entering another realm of reality; open the doors of perception that seem somehow closed in your minds.

Greeneyedgirl Fri 15-Jan-21 17:35:57

I don’t believe in supernatural beings VQ but prefer to trust reason, logic and evidence. I agree with you that it is illogical to believe in a supernatural god/gods but not fairies, pixies etc.

vampirequeen Fri 15-Jan-21 17:24:15

Thanks for your respect, janeainsworth.. I know my beliefs are not mainstream and I would never try to force anyone to share them.

To be honest I didn't expect to have to defend myself simply for believing in faeries confused

lemongrove Fri 15-Jan-21 17:20:35

Unicorns? Loch Ness Monster? Little green aliens? Pixies in pointy hats? Werewolves?
Where do we draw the line?

vampirequeen of course you may hold any belief you like, that’s your right, but as janeainsworth says nobody else has to agree or respect those views by giving them credence.
