GOOD FRIDAY

When we survey the wondrous cross
On which the Lord of glory died,
Our richest gain we count but loss,
And pour contempt on all our pride.

Our God forbid that we should boast,
Save in the death of Christ, our Lord;
All the vain things that charm us most,
We’d sacrifice them to His blood.

There from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flowed mingled down;
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, from His head
Spreads o’er His body on the tree;
To all the world then am I dead,
And all the world is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature ours,
That were an offering far too small;
Love that transcends our highest pow’rs,
Demands our heart, our life, our all.

Thank you for reminding us about the real Easter message Annie
Good Friday and the Easter weekend were so important in our calendar when I was young not so much now I'm afraid.

Anniebach thank you. My favourite hymn.
God Bless.

Are we still a Christian country? No mention of Good Friday on BBC News this morning.

I wrote this poem to be shared in our Church this weekend.

Did you really die for me?
My saviour and my friend.
Did you give your own life
So that mine would never end?

Am I really worthy
Of your sacrifice and love?
I try to be your servant
But worry it's not enough.

I want to be a light for you
To help show others the way
So they will learn to walk with you
Each and every day.

I want the whole world to see you
And your love that never ends
I want them to know you as I do
As my saviour and my friend.

That's lovely Smileless. Out of the darkness cometh light. Always, I think.

That is a lovely poem Smileless2012 I am sure it would have been received well in the church.

I was at the Good Friday service yesterday at church it was so different with social distancing and the wearing of masks although just being at church was such a blessing in itself.
