And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Septimia, what a wonderful story, thank you for sharing it.

One of my favourite hymns. I can never get through singing it without finding myself weeping tears of sorrow, of joy, of remembrance...

Thank you Sue and all others who have contributed to this thread. Happy Easter to you all. I’ve just returned from church and I enjoyed the Easter service very much and feel very uplifted now. We are now busy cooking roast lamb and last week I made a simnal cake, and so our son and his wife are joining us for lunch. We spoke to our daughter and three beloved grandchildren in New Zealand this morning and tomorrow our other son and family are joining us for a buffet lunch. Life is good.
Blessings to you Annie in your new home.

Happy Easter to all.
DH was hoping to get to church for the first time since his heart attack but was not quite well enough, so he is to have a home Communion visit later today. I had the privilege of going to church for a lovely Easter service. The last hymn was Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son!

Happy Easter Anniebach,
The Peace to you and all who read Annie's thread.

Thank you for posting this glorious morning.

Easter Blessings to all!

Thank you, Anniebach and Septimia.
I'm not long home from morning Mass, then visiting the sick with Holy Communion.

Annie, I hope you are happily settled in your new home. How great thou art has special memories for us. The piper played
it accompanying the hearse to the graveside when DH's sister's died of Covid during lockdown.

Our final hymn was Thine be the glory, Cabbie. I hope your DH continues to improve and can return to church soon.

Alleluia, Alleluia, give thanks to the Risen Lord,
Alleluia, Alleluia, give praise to his Name.

Happy Easter to you all.

I love that hymn Annie and we sung it at the service this morning. Not at home at the moment but in the town where Mr. S. was born and we first met.

Went to the church where we were married this morning for the Easter service and Holy Communion; always so moving on this day.

Wishing all posters and readers of this wonderful thread a really happy and Holy Easter. Like GranMarie I was at Mass first thing this morning and then took Holy Communion to a housebound couple. It is a ministry I can easily offer to them as it just takes a bit of time and commitment - but it also is so rewarding to see the joy on their faces.
Thank you Annie for another wonderful thread.
Alleluia!

What a lovely thread! Thank you for starting it, Anniebach. Today our service ended with Thine Be The Glory, one of my favourites.

I wonder how many of you watched Easter at Kings on BBC1 last night and repeated on BBC2 this morning. It included some beautiful choral singing. Recommended.

Hiraeth Sun 09-Apr-23 19:03:12
