And when I think that God, His Son not sparing Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Happy Easter to all. DH was hoping to get to church for the first time since his heart attack but was not quite well enough, so he is to have a home Communion visit later today. I had the privilege of going to church for a lovely Easter service. The last hymn was Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son!
Thank you Sue and all others who have contributed to this thread. Happy Easter to you all. I’ve just returned from church and I enjoyed the Easter service very much and feel very uplifted now. We are now busy cooking roast lamb and last week I made a simnal cake, and so our son and his wife are joining us for lunch. We spoke to our daughter and three beloved grandchildren in New Zealand this morning and tomorrow our other son and family are joining us for a buffet lunch. Life is good. Blessings to you Annie in your new home.
I hope it’s ok to post here. I’m not a believer, though I would like to be. Annies post has brought joy to my heart, because I love that hymn. I’ve also enjoyed reading everyone’s lovely posts.
I wish Gransnetters the peace that passeth all understanding this Eastertide. 💐
Here's a different Easter story: Three years after the Russian Revolution of 1917, a great anti-God rally was arranged in Kiev. The powerful orator Bukharin was sent from Moscow, and for an hour he demolished the Christian faith with argument, abuse and ridicule. At the end there was silence. Then a man rose and asked to speak. He was a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church. He went and stood next to Bukharin. Facing the people, he raised his arms and spoke just three triumphant words: ‘Christ is risen!’ At once the entire assembly rose to their feet and gave the joyful response, ‘He is risen indeed!’ It was a devastating moment for an atheist politician, who had no answer to give to this ancient Easter liturgy. He had not realised he was simply too late: how can you convince people that God does not exist when they have already encountered Him?
He is risen indeed. Alleluia! Happy Easter everyone.
Good morning Annie A Happy Blessed Easter to yo. I still remember so well some years ago when you posted a thought each Morning of Holy Week and many of us contributed each day on the thread. Sincere wishes for your new life in your new home.
