Kidney Bean Trick ?

Hello
I’ve just read about this ‘trick’ that burglars get up to, bless ‘em.

Apparently, they spill a tin of beans up your door, or on your doorstep. In fact, anything messy will suffice.

If the mess hasn’t been cleaned up in few hours or so, the thieves can see that no one is in, and know that the coast is clear to ransack your home.

Just thought I’d share this with you.
So, ‘Keep ‘em peeled’, as Shaw Taylor used to say ?

I don’t BlueBelle! I can go weeks without going out.

Around here we've had a different "marker". A tiddlywink, or something similar, is placed on top of the back wheel of a car parked on a driveway. If the marker is still there after a couple of days, the car vanishes. 3 high value marque cars have been stolen off one estate around here.

Over here in Malaga there’s a new scam. My friend & her partner were walking home in the residential Gamonal area of Arroyo. Suddenly he was dripping from the shoulder down his shirt sleeves with what he at first assumed was bird mess. A ‘helpful’ passerby approached with wads of tissues and a small bottle of water to ‘assist’ clean, helping him to remove his shirt. A bit of fuss and kerfuffle later, the couple realised his wallet had been lifted. Thinking back, the man who helped had been on his mobile phone as they approached - probably alerting his accomplice in the adjacent apartment block to throw some liquid mess down on them....

well, I had loud knocks on my front door at 3 o clock in the morning once. I was frightened but went downstairs and called out 'who is it'? was asked was this some made up address and I answered no and they ran off! I rung the police and they came out straight away. I was told that they were checking if anyone was home prior to breaking in..... I left downstairs light on from then on and moved to an upstairs flat with security soon after as I live alone.

We had the scariest occurance many years ago. In the middle of the night, we were woken up by a man shouting in our downstairs hallway. Terrified, we went to see what was going on.

He was shouting through the letter box! Naturally, we'd thought he was in the house.

I’m afraid in our house we’re both quite capable of just stepping over the mess for several days ??
