This might be a very silly question with a simple answer.

Why do you need to call a phone number to set up an app on a phone?

Because that’s what it said you had to do on the sign.

Ah, I see.
Well done for alerting people to the scam that apps aren’t installed by phone calls.

Installing the real app is easy and works very well.

I first used Ringo a couple of years ago in Edinburgh and only once since when I was in London. I downloaded the app. It worked very well for me and was legit. So awful how these scammers get into everything.

Same thing happened to us using Ringo and today after many weeks later we managed to get the bank to refund.
it was used 3 times in ever increasing amounts.

Ok- apologies Primrose!

I solved my parking dilemmas by using my free bus pass and taking the bus whenever possible!

I really hate camera controlled car parks and try to avoid using them. I don't mind walking a bit further and it helps boost my steps.

Isn't there another thread on this?

Well there’s an add on bit to another thread but I thought as most of us use car parks and it’s a devious scam, it was worthy of its own thread.

A few weeks ago we parked in a car park where you could not pay cash. You had to use an app. There were large, clear signs all around the car park to this effect. The parking company was RingGo.

We discovered last night that £1 and then £60 (plus £60 to be taken each month) had been taken from our bank account.

We got on to Bank today and were told it’s a scam where scammers either change the parking signs to direct you to a fake number or the call just directs you elsewhere. Then of course they have all your account details and can pinch your money.

The firm scamming our money is teachhow2code.com who obviously we have never heard of or dealt with.

Bank have cancelled these plus any future ones, plus have cancelled card.

Be careful.
