Fraudulent company selling plastic storage containers…

I suppose unreliable would be a better description. If anyone cares to look them up on Trustpilot they’ll find that they aren’t a company to deal with and I would certainly advise people not to use them. My main complaint being that they are deliberately mimicking a reputable company by using an almost identical website. I’ve actually been worried sick knowing that they have my credit card details and I was going to have to wait another week until my credit card company were going to pursue it for me. If you can think of a better description I’ll ask HQ to change the heading. How would you feel if you ordered something from a company that didn’t send a confirmation email, DPD tracking just disappeared after the delivery date they gave came and went, a company that used to employ the owner of that company advised me to contact my credit card company straight away, contact phone number didn’t exist, emails were returned etc etc. I suppose you think I’ve just been downright stupid, which I have been and feel pretty wretched about it.

Well, blow me. I think they’ve arrived. The order from the good company arrived( everything done properly with them; confirmation email, delivery date, DPD tracking etc). But with the order was another package. Unlike the one from the good company it was held together with sticky tape and the cardboard had seen better days. No wonder on Trustpilot people say their orders, if they do arrive, turn up damaged. But I’m pretty sure it’s from the dodgy company ( they both use DPD). So I’ve been lucky. I order via the internet so much I had become slack and didn’t do my research before clicking the pay button. Lesson learned. I now can’t move for large plastic storage boxes and also have two huge cardboard boxes to add to my cardboard box collection (it’s what hoarders do!).

Oh no. The order that’s on its way is the one from the good company(they both use DPD). So the fraudulent one is still nowhere to be found.

Having now ordered some from the good company I might end up with a house full of huge plastic boxes to add to the clutter! From looking on Truspilot this company did start off ok but then went dodgy after a few year; which is why it gets 5 star ratings along with no stars. It seems that people placing huge orders with them have been stung losing a lot of money in the process.

Crikey. I’ve had an update from DPD who say they now have my parcel. Maybe I’m going to be one of the lucky ones who do actually receive what they’ve ordered? I’m not holding my breath, though!

I get those Amazon calls nearly every day. I never call them back though because I once read that if you press one after the call it can redirect you to a number that scams you out of money. My bank have said not to worry as they’ll sort it out. But I don’t understand why so many people have said they’ve contacted trading standards and yet the company is still going. It is a worry to know that they’ve got my credit card details, though.

Yes, these people are criminals. When I get scam calls (recently a lot from a bunch of scumbags claiming to be from Amazon,) I listened to the voice message telling me to select a number to be put through to someone.
I was connected to a real person (from India of course) and pretended how worried I was, taking up his “valuable” time.
Then I let him have it, very politely! I told him he was a criminal and did he know if his family knew what he was doing. That they’d be ashamed of him and that he was harming innocent trusting people, most of them with little money. They use real phone numbers and after I spoke to him I called the number that had come up on my phone.
The guy was of course completely unaware and grateful I’d told him.
It won’t stop these low-lifes but it made me feel better! I only use trusted companies when I order online - Amazon (you can get absolutely anything,) Vinted or a household name.

send a complaint to companies house maybee, they have clout and also go on trustpilot and any public consumer services you can find. I had to be very pro-active before one company reimbursed me. Refer to both names

I always try to pay with paypal, they are very good and would refund you.

That’s the address I’ve got. He must be the man who left the good company and set up a fraudulent one. The email I’ve sent has been returned undelivered.

I’m far more vigilant now in checking reviews for companies or only using reputable suppliers even if it costs a little more, I didn’t used to a few years ago.

When I’m trying to talk to a real person at a company I always phone the sales department because they tend to make sure you can get through to sales pretty quickly. But not customer services!

Also seems to me one of the many downsides of inter-net shopping- but still we do it chasing those bargains.

Maybee70, it is the psychological impact. Son and I have talked and agreed that we should draw a line across, to avoid being upset. That line will be drawn as soon as the £50 is paid over, I think it will be but I will stop hoping in a few days

The last cs person, called Jack, believed me about the items in the box and he, I think, authorised the £50 but if it doesn`t appear in the next couple of days then it won`t happen. I have never spoken to a person at dpd. It is all computers and Jack sent me an e mail.

Maybee, not being able to access tracking is definitely a red flag

I don`t have high limits on credit cards and don`t keep much in my two current accounts. Its a scary world and so easy to be completely cleaned out

This delivery is supposed to be via DPD but I can’t access the tracking. Yet another red flag. Oh how awful to lose something with such sentimental value. My boxes pale into insignificance compared to something like that.

Not a scam, just a theft. DPD took my 12kg parcel and they have always been reliable, I sent two previous heavy parcels with them to my son

It contained some of my late husbands carving equipment, much unused and I squashed things in that I dithered about, could have kept them but it was nice to pass things to my son. I reckon that the real value was around £600 and I have no invoices for the contents. Very well packed in a very strong box and two labels that could not have `dropped off`. A distinctive box, could be picked out on a search

That parcel was tracked to the Birmingham hub and the tracking stopped. 30 days later dpd have closed my case. I have received the cost of sending it back but not yet the included £50 insurance. I am holding my breath

Son once worked in a warehouse and he said that stealing parcels is rife. I feel gutted but will be drawing a line across if/when the £50 is paid over. I get the impression that it might be paid

I have always kept my cool and been nice to the cs system, very robotic initially, always AI. Then a few days ago someone real took over my case. It is the frustration as much as anything. AI and chat goes round and around in circles. It must be the same with most banks nowadays

If they were not to sleep at night it would be because they have consciences and know whata they are doing at night.

In fact scammers like this sleep very well at night. They do not give a toss for those they cheat and rot, just see you as gullible fools, or congratulate themselves on the way they get money for nothing.

They even have a Birmingham address! They knew I would trust a company with a Brummie address!

Don't beat yourself up about it. These scammers are very clever. I don't always look at reviews because they can be fake too.
