A new one for me, from ‘Royal Mail’…

Royal Mail do not email about packages and undelivered items. They don’t have your email.

They do actually have my email, because I often use Click and Drop (or rather, click and postman collects) for parcels, so they need it in order to send me the label to print off.

Funnily enough, today I had an almost identical one, purporting to be from Evri! Large letter, nobody was in…. Etc.

The ones to watch for are those which arrive in the usual livery colours of a well known courier company, such as the orange and brown of UPS. They direct you to an authentic looking website where it informs you that there is a "failed delivery" and they want you to pay ££ for redelivery. However when you check more carefully the originating email address bears no resemblence to UPS or the courier company they are masquerading as.

I get quite a few courier deliveries so I always check the sender email address if in doubt.

I get about one every week.

So many scams coming at us every day.
Royal Mail, Amazon and Sky in particular.
Add cold calling and it’s a sizeable list.😡

What I think is despicable is the fact that these people have what they call a sucker list of, mainly, old people who are confused by modern technology or just confused. I believe they sell these lists.

Yes, ‘suckers’ lists’ are certainly a thing. I read a lot about them some years ago after an elderly neighbour (very naive and vulnerable) was scammed out of over £100k 😱

I’m still convinced that she was targeted because of her addiction to those Wordsearch ‘competitions’ where you oh so
conveniently phone in all your details at £££ a minute. The scam was carried out entirely over the phone.

I got a card asking for the extra payment. I nearly didn't reply as I was not expecting a letter. It turned out that a friend had used old stamps on her party invitations and was wondering why so many hadn't replied.

Always look at the url by opening the email and checking the address of the sender. If it's a genuine Royal Mail email that will be obvious.

Same applies to all dubious emails.
