How many times are we told to report scams to Action Fraud ?How many of you know though that the police do not investigate your report? See below
"When any report of fraud is made the information is placed on the NFIB’s intelligence system. Due to the volume of frauds reported, they are assessed through a technical system initially which scores the viability of investigation for each. This assessment considers a number of factors including any linked reports and the suspect information provided, those that meet a required threshold will then be analysed by a crime reviewer.
There are certain preliminary enquiries that need to be conducted to ensure the report is passed to the correct police force to investigate and that they have enough information to consider an investigation. Action Fraud and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau DO NOT INVESTIGATE CRIME but do record and assess reports made by members of the public to determine if these are suitable to be sent to a particular police force to decide upon an investigation method.
Goodness, look what I just found…
