Tesco Mobile Scam!

Five minutes ago I had a woman who said she was from Tesco Mobile, offering me a £5.00 a month discount on my mobile phone account. She kept aggressively demanding an email address from me, and I said that if she was from Tesco they would already have my email address. I refused to give it to her, and put the phone down. The scary thing is she had my name, and my 'phone number and already knew how much I was paying per month. Has my account been hacked? She said if I refused to give my email address, I wouldn't get the discount. I thought a genuine Tesco Mobile employee would email me offering me a discount without the bullying tactics. I only had a Tesco Mobile email two days ago confirming my last month's bill.

There is an identical scam doing the rounds where "O2" offer you a reduction on your bill. 😒 "You've been chosen" the guy said. Trouble is my bill is only £8 a month so my response was "Huh? Why would I need a discount?" Only found out afterwards it is a scam.

I’ve had a phone call from Tesco mobile offering me £5 per month discount on my monthly account. They asked for a PIN number (I told them I didn’t have one) and my email address so they could send a link for me to change my password. That’s when I hung up!

This is from the Tesco mobile app:

If someone calls you claiming to work for Tesco Mobile, remember, we’ll never ask you for your account details like passwords, passcodes or PINs, or personal info like bank details. If you think a call is suspicious, please contact us as soon as possible

I will now contact them via the number on the app.

Ba****ds!
