Order receipt scam

Dh received a receipt purportedly from Opodo Prime saying x amount had been taken from card xxxx xxxx xxxx 1590. He didn’t recognise the transaction nor the last 4 digits of the card so he rang the number listed. A foreign gent replied and tried to get his bank details which dh refused to give and said he would contact his bank whereupon other person got anxious. Dh rang off and rang his bank who confirmed no transactions.
Obviously a scam to get his proper full card number. Concerning thing is they had his name and full address details and it was addressed to someone he’d bought flight tickets 3 years ago. Obviously this information somehow found itself into the wrong hands. I checked who called me and the telephone number was not Opodo.

Yet another disgusting, scheming, underhand method to get information from unsuspecting individuals angry

Good thing that your OH was clued up enough to NOT give his details and thank you for sharing.........let's get GNetters aware of this latest scam.

I had a text on my phone with Goverment heading including crown symbol saying that I could receive £300 heating help. Form was pretty much being auto filled as I went along and then the trick statement was I needed to pay a 'token' £1 just to verify my card was authentic and that it would be refunded within 5 days. I reckon many people may be fooled by this. Hope not.....

it's safer to look up Opodo's number independently then verify with them. Sometimes they do strange things with the phone, plus these people are expert at convincing you they are who they say they are. So better to not put your

I've had 3 similar emails purporting to be from different restaurants in Australia, it's all nonsense of course, don't fall for ir, it would be easy to do if you were distracted

I was told that some firms ( illegally) sell on card details which have been used for legal purposes . Scams are so easy to fall for and there are few if any ways to get the money back. Action Fraud just records the crime and does nothing else

I never use the given phone number on these scams, I always contact the provider directly.
