Dangerous new winter fuel payment text scam

I received a text today supposedly from the DWP telling me I haven’t yet applied for my winter fuel payment. I have to apply by 13th August or there will be delays and possible complications processing my claim. Then there’s a link for me to use to get my claim made now. What a horrible scam targeting people who think they might be eligible this year. I reported it immediately and deleted it. Anybody else had one of these?

My friend has also had a text message regarding winter fuel allowance! Also had to pay £1 to register with bank details ofcourse!!

Yes, I had a similar text yesterday. The date given to me was 12th August.

DWP pay the winter fuel allowance directly to your account. No need to apply.

I received a similar scam some time ago.
