I don't think you have to be with BT to use Call Guardian ?
I just bought a call guardian phone in Robert Dyas and plugged it into land line.
You set it up to intervene any unknown callers.
I never even hear them ringing as they don't go through the procedure of announcing themselves.

I am registered with TPS but, as Floradora9 said, they can’t do anything without a fixed number and they probably come from abroad.
I have now done some research and this is definitely AI. Apparently they clone your voice, therefore, you shouldn’t engage with them and the worse thing you can do is to say yes to anything. Oh whoops, the first thing he asked me was ‘can you hear me OK’? What did I say yes, I said yes!

A friend tells them so grateful you called I am very low on energy today, my back and my sciatica are playing me up, my get up and go has got up and gone. What advice can you give me on my energy levels?

I am so sick of receiving phone calls from people saying that they are the local energy adviser for our area. No exaggeration but I must have had hundreds over time.
I’ve just received one and when I said I was sick of receiving these calls and To go away he just kept on talking. After I put the phone down it occurred to me that it might have been AI. Have others had these calls?

I get maybe half a dozen sales calls per year.

Just ignore the call then look up the number where it will tell if it’s a scam number.
If it’s not, call the number.
Remember: the more you answer these people they know the number is live and will keep wringing.

I had a few of these calls in a short space of time on the landline around 4 or 5 years ago and treated them the same way I treat all spam calls. Nothing recently and nothing on the mobile.

We used to have”Jo” call, now it’s David. I just say we rent and have no money. Call ends quickly.

We have had loads of them used to be with BT and had thier call guardian but now with cable there is no way of stopping them . I block the number every time but they just use another number. I complained to the telephone preference service but they said without a fixed number they are powerless.

I asked one of them if he was AI and he told me he was new so was using a script.

They respond to expected replies so if you say something they aren't expecting they carry on talking.
