Maybe This Should Be Under Pets?

It involves the escalation of the AI, supposed "loss" of pets - cats especially - but the kidnappers demand Gift Cards and refuse cash.

When I asked AI why, it seems that Gift Cards are practically impossible to detect - and, cruelly - owners contacting the criminals are threatened with violence to their pet, that's if it IS theirs.

Very often they'll give in rather than take a chance and that's that. No cat, no Gift Card - nothing.

So, don't post a missing animals image on the Internet - that's what scammers are trawling for.

But how could they?

How awful. What dreadful people to do this. It's bad enough when a beloved pet is missing without this.angry

I had no idea this sort of thing went on. My dog ran away from the dog walker and was lost for a short while. Happily and miraculously he found his way home himself. The idea of someone conning me if he had gone completely missing is too awful.
