Safe journey Greatnan

Greatnan Tue 12-Feb-13 07:04:30

I am on my way this afternoon
I am looking forward to seeing the upside down sky!

OMG daisy I had never thought of that. Worked out that in the night you are looking at a very different chunk of the heavens. Stars different. Got that. And that North winds are warm and southerlies cold.
But yes, the "map" of the moon would look different too wouldn't it. How very observant of you.

Daisy - I have visions of your standing on your head to look at the moon!
I hope you didn't show your knickers. smile
I am keeping an anxious eye on the weather forecast for Heathrow tomorrow - I don't worry about Geneva airport.

I loved the Bay of Islands; and Milton Sound - would love to go back to NZ but don't suppose I will now. When I was in NZ I was bothered by the fact that the moon was the other way round - finally realised that I was upside-down looking at it. What a wonderful film of the moon rising!

We too loved the Bay of Islands. Stayed in a charming B & B in Russell, what a lovely little place and area. Took ferry across to Paihia which was much busier and touristy we felt.
Loved Wellington too, Greatnan, lucky you to be going so soon. We didn't have enough time to enjoy all levels of Te Papa museum, very impressive!

The Bay of Islands - one of my favourite places anywhere.

Oh Bay of Islands Greatnan envy such a wonderful, beautiful place, I have a friend who has a house in Keri Keri envy

We are having a few days there so I will certainly try to get up to Victoria Peak. Then I am hiring a car and carrying on alone to the Bay of Islands.
My daughter raves about Wellington. I love Nelson, it is so friendly and full of back packers , cafes and bars.
My journey to Juragran's house was spectacular this morning - bright sunlight, Lake Geneva glittering, and the massive bulk of the Mont Blanc range across the water. I would be sorry to leave, if I were not going to such a beautiful place!

Our wondrous world! Thanks Ana smile

You should still try to get to Victoria peak greatnan - great viewpoint and a very stiff climb uphill. Wish I was there to give you a conducted tour.

Ariadne Sun 10-Feb-13 16:11:11

That is amazing, ana! Thank you.

Fabulous! I haven't seen anything like that before. I was waiting for ET to pass on a bicycle! smile

Greatnan Sun 10-Feb-13 15:43:50

Thank you - I will be in Wellington in two weeks, but obviously I will have missed the full moon!

JessM Sun 10-Feb-13 15:43:16

Exquisite. I know exactly the spot it was filmed. Oh lovely Wellington I miss you!

Ana Sun 10-Feb-13 15:29:20

Sorry if this has been posted before - I've just seen it on another site.
