You'll have to bring it indoors when it gets cooler, though. So it's quite a tropical-looking garden, then!

Woops sorry posted twice, didn't think the first was sent.

It was given to me by a friend for a new garden I am constructing. A bit like a Christmas cactus only larger.

They were given to me by a friend they look similar to a Christmas cactus I suppose only larger. I am constructing a new garden on what was a veg plot, patio, small pond and now plants. Such hard work, not the patio, a builder did that, but well worth it. I love garden I g, even with a back problem.

My mother had one, she went through a phase of growing epiphytes in her bathroom. She had an old tree branch and used to attach various plants, mainly bromeliads, to it.

It sounds like a disease, caz! Looking forward to seeing what it looks like.

Has any one grown Billbergia? I have never heard of it and Googled it for info. It looks gorgeous, looking forward to seeing it flower when I will try to post a pic.

Now that's a good idea - I have some crocosmia I can move. I don't really want red hot pokers, I quite like the yellow ones though.

rosesarered Tue 07-Apr-15 22:12:59

Red hot pokers or red/orange crocosmia would look good!

janerowena Tue 07-Apr-15 15:09:38

Oh dear! Have a look at my fireplace instead. grin I was thinking of growing red and yellow plants in front of it - red hot pokers would be appropriate!

By the looks of it.

So, just a few hellbores then! I love them, they make the winter feel shorter as they are in flower from early December until almost summer, depending on the variety. I have loads of them, all different colours.

janerowena Sun 15-Mar-15 15:09:52

I can only post one at a time.

janerowena Sun 15-Mar-15 15:09:11

It doesn't want to play, even after they have been edited!

How lovely. My garden is very hit and miss and we have had a hosepipe ban that has been lifted only this week because of massive storms recently. They, of course, have cause the weeds to flourish. Oh dear!

What a lovely thread, such beautiful flowers. There are several I'll be looking out for when I'm next visiting the garden centre.
My garden's rather dull at the moment......

Or not! I shall have another go tomorrow, I forgot how long-winded it all is now to get a photo to upload.

I fear that GNs admin were being a little overoptimistic when they suggested even 50, but really we should be able to go up to 100, surely, on a board like this.

janerowena Mon 23-Jun-14 16:16:18

It's painting with flowers really, isn't it.

janeainsworth Mon 23-Jun-14 15:45:13

Lovely colour combination Janerowena

janerowena Mon 23-Jun-14 12:29:22

Floriferous! I would take more photos but DBH keeps nicking the camera to take photos of butterflies and insects in his school's woods. The cecile brunner photo didn't come out too well.

janeainsworth Mon 23-Jun-14 11:39:00

Those Penstemon and passionflower are lovely Kitty

My border is all red and yellow at the moment.

kittylester Mon 23-Jun-14 11:27:03

You all put me to shame. When we moved here we had looked for a house with a small garden. We then had it 2 patios laid so have few flower beds, which is lucky as I'm not a gardener. grin

There are however some bits of the garden which, despite my best efforts, manage to do well. So here are my

Passionflower
Heuchera
Penstemon
