This makes my photo a selfie! grin

Can anyone help me identify these two plants? They have been grown from cuttings I was given last September from a friend's mother's garden. The salvia is a beautiful deep cherry red. I don't recognise the daisy like plant at all.

They are both hardy.

Here is Me by me. We are bit later further north. JaneRowena

And my allium purple sensation,.

janerowena Sun 18-May-14 19:54:06

Yes, do get one if you have room - it flowers in layers, it's so pretty.

nellimoser yes, I do have you and you are a good 'Do-er'! The earliest large clem to flower and carry on (but more sparsely) all season.

Camassia, the wildlife pond bridge, some ferns.

It is a very pretty shrub Jane my photo doesn't do it justice. Go on, treat yourself.

janeainsworth Sun 18-May-14 18:53:35

You have made me want one now Aka grin
I love scented shrubs and flowers and that looks really pretty too.

Aka Sun 18-May-14 18:30:06

Jane have googled that and think it is a Viburnun then found this Viburnum 'Mariesii' Wedding Cake Bush, Shrub, and it matches exactly.

A big thank you.

janeainsworth Sun 18-May-14 18:04:46

Viburnum odoratissimum?

Aka Sun 18-May-14 17:44:37

Can anyone identify this please? I've lost the label. It's about 4' high and have a lovely scent especially at night.

Aka Sun 18-May-14 17:39:34

Sorry ...snails not slugs.

Aka Sun 18-May-14 17:38:44

I'm winning the 'War of the Slugs'! The little blighters had eaten most of this delphinium so a week ago I wrapped it in cotton wool and now look at it.

If you look closely you will see there are 5 dead slugs who have tried to get past the barrier and died in the attempt.

It looks like a wonderful garden Marmight!

Marmight Sun 18-May-14 13:22:55

Returned home late last night after 18 days away, looked outside this morning and found that the garden has exploded..... Downhill from hereon though!

shysal Sun 18-May-14 12:53:02

Do you think we should demand our money back Galen? Mine was occupied by a squirrel within minutes of hanging it up!

Galen Sun 18-May-14 08:36:12

Shysal
I have an identical feeder.
Guess who was enjoying it the other day?
A squirrel!hmm

Nelliemoser Sun 18-May-14 08:26:17

JaneRowena It's me in your back garden, a nelliemoser!

Stansgran Sun 18-May-14 08:21:13

I love this rhododendron . Starts deep pink in the bud and ends up pale green. Was planning to go to Cragside to see the rhododendron s there.

I have discovered, with the help of Glasgow Botanics, that the mystery flower in my garden is "Fringe Cups" (Tellima grandiflora)

shysal Sun 18-May-14 07:03:47

I did once slip and my foot went under the mower. How the blade missed me I don't know, because in my panic I kept firmly hold of the operation lever!

janerowena Sat 17-May-14 21:53:43

Me too! I hate it when the forget-me-nots go over.

Shysal my heart is always in my mouth when I see people hovermowing steep banks because I remember how hard it was for me. I was always convinced I was going to trip over the line one day and end up on the road below.

janeainsworth Sat 17-May-14 16:15:42

Just been out and taken these, of cornflowers, forget-me-nots and Welsh poppies, and the sunny border in my back garden. The tulips are just about over but still give a splash of colour. Lots of other things about to burst into flower to replace them. I love this time of year.

shysal Sat 17-May-14 15:01:29

Back to the subject of kitchen views. Mine is not great, being north facing, although I quite like the variegated acer in the communal area. The best sight is of a helpful neighbour who loves mowing, cutting the grass in front of 7 of the houses in my terrace! That is my least favourite gardening job, being on a steep slope at the back, requiring crampons on my boots and dangling a Flymo!

annodomini Sat 17-May-14 14:53:45

It was a crow that I saw robbing the coconut. I'm sure there is a nest in the trees beyond the brook.
