Our pieris are still in full bloom at the moment. Magnolia buds just about to burst open, same with peony tree.

My sink faces a blank wall! sad Although the window is set into a wall 30cms deep has a well padded window seat with a radiator under. My favourite spot in the autumn and winter when the weather is bad! smile

How lovely to see an olive tree and Bougainville.

A beautiful sight from the kitchen window is a 'must'. Very uplifting when chained to,the sink grin

From my kitchen window, Solanum for privacy from the neighbours, and Pieris past it's best.

Part of my veggie plot. Enjoying myself there this afternoon.

Thank you Ffinochio.

Californian Poppies, gk - Eschscholzia californica. They are delightful smile

There's also a lovely white variety, but I do prefer the golden ones.

Lovely thread this.

Can someone tell me what these are please? They've appeared in our "wild" garden. The flowers are poppy-like and fold at night into a tidy whirl. The plant itself is quite bushy. I love them.

Stunning! I always wanted one, too.

Oh I love Bougainvillea Bellasnana. If I had a conservatory I would have onesmile

I'm enjoying these lovely photos. We don't have much of a garden, just a courtyard with a few colorful plants. We do have a big bougainvillea which climbs up the wall. Will put a pic of that.

dustyangel your photos could be here - very similar to what we see in Malta before the sun burns everything.

Maybe we should have a series of 'what I can see from my kitchen window'? grin

I took this photo last night at dusk, it's a section of a few raised alpine beds. Currently we have a lot of blue and mauve in flower and the light added to its blueness. They are visible from my window, I shall take a photo later.

Love all the garden pics.

Jane, there is nothing better than having a garden to look out on from a kitchen window. Lucky you.

janeainsworth Sun 04-May-14 08:46:55

I put these Dolls Minuet tulips in my front garden last year and was surprised to see them again - the garden was so waterlogged all winter I was sure they would die.
My kitchen overlooks the front garden so I can see them when I'm standing at the sink washing up. I love them with the pale narcissi and the Queen of the Night tulips.

A different kind of gardening

Olive tree in full bloom. The other picture is next door's drive, a glorious mass of wildflowers now that will be prickly straw in the next month.

Aka Thu 01-May-14 05:51:41

Lovely.

Nelliemoser Wed 30-Apr-14 23:54:12

Well not today's. They have been over for a while but I love my Fritillary Mealagris.

Nelliemoser Wed 30-Apr-14 23:42:41

AKA It might be. I have had it for ages and the label may not still be on it.

I will go out tomorrow and look.

It's a fairly low growing plant. I have had it so long, mine had become very leggy. About 2yrs ago I chopped half of the plant back very severely indeed and did the same thing with the other half the following year.
It is really superb right now.

Queen of the Night is not just late flowering, but the stems are lovely and long for picking AND they don't droop when put in a vase. I've had some indoors now for over a week and they still look fresh.
Thanks for reminding me of the name (QofN) I'd forgotten it.

janerowena Wed 30-Apr-14 15:27:08

Which is probably Aka's, as it is as late as Cummins. We do have Queen of the Night, quite a few of them, but they are in the shade in my OH's black bed so are later than most. I say it is his, but he chooses the plants and makes me look after them. You can't see the tulips because they are growing in amongst his collection of black hellebores and heucheras.

annodomini Wed 30-Apr-14 14:57:32

I think my Choisia is Astec Pearl; the evening air is suffused with its scent. I also have a very pretty pink Deutzia which may or may not be Strawberry Fields - the label has faded. The latest tulip to bloom is the almost black Queen of the Night with lovely lustrous dark petals.
