If it's in flower now, smells good (especially at night) and looks a bit like this......

Aka Wed 30-Apr-14 14:21:54

I'll go and take a picture. Give me a minute.......

JANER ---green

AKA --- oh I see your post now, but am not "sure" about mine , doh !

I will have to go and study the pictures in my garden manual

smile Think the best place for me is going to the movies, out the way!!

Nonu I posted earlier about the smell of my Choisiya at dusk. Wonderful.

Agree about those tulips. I picked some up at a local garden centre on spec, but I'll be hunting them down next year as I only have half a dozen.

That camellia is lovely janer envy

janerowena Wed 30-Apr-14 13:02:49

Gold or green? Probably 'sundance' if gold, possibly 'goldfingers', the commonest green is plain 'ternata', there is also a green called 'white dazzler' but I can't think of any others without looking them up. Oh no, I used to have 'Aztec pearl' as well. It has spikier-looking leaves.

Nonu Wed 30-Apr-14 12:54:49

I think that BI camellia is beautiful !

Anyone got a choisiya by the way?

I am trying to identify a shrub in my garden !

I love the azalea. partly because I really dislike the one I inherited when we bought this house 7 years ago. I can't convey its fluorescence in a photo, but it shouts at you.

Yes, Aka! It's really special, isn't it? It will look lovely with Queen of the Night.

Scary camellia and bi-coloured camellia sport shown. The camellia is weird, I keep thinking I will get rid of it. It flowers white on one side, pink on the other, and red and white variations in the middle that change from year to year. I don't like it at all but it fascinates me.

Aka Wed 30-Apr-14 11:26:08

Stop it! I've not had breakfast no.1 yet and you're making me hungry.

thatbags Wed 30-Apr-14 11:14:53

Done a stint of compost shovelling (before breakfast number two), made some date slices (cooling in soop's kitchen as we speak), done a mega washing up, partly from last night cos I was out archerifying until late. Must be brekky number three time.

And our yellow azaleas are beginning to flower.

Nonu Wed 30-Apr-14 09:58:51

AKA, they are the ones, quite special IMO !

They look much 'blacker' in real life than on the photo.

Aka Wed 30-Apr-14 09:57:27

I'm going to mix the purple frilly ones with these black tulips next year.

Aka Wed 30-Apr-14 09:49:35

Are these the ones?

Nonu Wed 30-Apr-14 09:23:11

Thanks JANE, I have been onto website, it is a bit early yet so I have registered and they will contact me when the tulips are available !

Heady.

Nellie isn't that the rhodo called Apple Blossom?

I've not taken a picture to send, but a fragrance instead...when I went down to put the chucks to bed it was getting dark and the scent of the Choisya on the night air was breathtaking.

janerowena Tue 29-Apr-14 22:42:40

Lovely rhodo. Mine are just coming out.

janerowena Tue 29-Apr-14 22:41:43

It's really hard to get hold of over here, it's more common in the USA, but I have tracked down somewhere for you.

The little nursery where I bought mine has disappeared. Tulips are an extravagance in my garden - the mice eat them. I'm thinking of wrapping all the bulbs in chicken wire before I plant them.

Nonu Tue 29-Apr-14 20:49:00

*Agus I do think you could be right, however, my garden gives me so much pleasure all the time

Except of course in the dead of Winter, I know a lot of folk have winter flowering stuff but I am not one of them!

More beautiful pics.

I agree Nonu. But I think this time of year is a very special time when the garden comes to life again. So much beauty as if appearing from nowhere in what were patches of soil just a few weeks ago.

Grannyknot Tue 29-Apr-14 18:38:32

This is such a pleasant and relaxing thread, thanks everyone for posting.

Nelliemoser Tue 29-Apr-14 18:34:53

This lovely Rhododendron. not sur what its name is.

Nonu Tue 29-Apr-14 18:22:17

I think you can Always find beauty in the garden , whatever stage it is at !

Nonu Tue 29-Apr-14 18:21:09

Pretty, mine are at the same stage !
