It was in early July Newest, so I'll remember that for future. We'd love to go back.

Grannyknot i am so pleased you enjoyed your holiday, that's a lovely photo. I am guessing it would be round about June, once a year about that time the flies appear then they go quite quickly, they are mostly in the areas where the animals are.

Newist we had the best holiday on - or do you say in smile - the Hebrides last year. North Uist was lovely, but (ducks and runs away) I remember that was the island where there were so many flies! And I hate flies.

Here is a photo taken when we were waiting for the ferry to leave the Uists en route to Barra (I think! we went on so many ferries). But altogether beautiful on those islands, we loved it.

It looks wonderful and I'd love to make it up there one day for a holiday. I don't think I'd stay - too lacking in trees - but the feeling of space and freedom must be wonderful.

That looks so inviting.

This is one of the many lovely beaches

Although it's remote, I'm guessing the community spirit is good Newist? Nothing like a wild windswept day for a walk along the beach.

Brought back memories of a lovely holiday on N. Uist. Loved the place. Could easily live there. Having said that we were recently on holiday on Mull when a recycling truck broke down in front of us and completely blocked the road for 2 hours. No-one could get a signal on their mobile phone and there was nothing to do but wait and walk over the hill to get a signal. OK when you are on holiday but not much fun if trying to get to work.

Walking along that beach when it's wild and windy must be so exhilarating.
