Love all the photos of Skomer. Part of my family live in Solva (near St Davids) but I have not yet managed to get over to Skomer. Will be staying in 'Skomer View ' Apartment in August, and
hope I might finally get across to see it more closely!

Well I did wonder that the other day flowerofthewest. I was expounding the theory that in most parts of England the land that was previously wooded has been heavily farmed for a long time. On the train from Crewe to MK the other day it was fields all the way, lot of them monoculture grass/cereal. Hardly a bluebell or other wild flower in sight. Even the few where you could see the mediaeval ridges will have been farmed for 1000 years or more. In Wales there has never been such intensive farming - but much deforestation of hillsides etc for firewood or to fuel small furnaces. Glad I was thinking along right lines smile

Just a couple more of Skomer. I cannot wait to get back there. Have put myself on the short notice list.

Bluebells are an indicator species Jess suggesting that Skomer was once covered in ancient woodland.

Oh those bluebells growing in the open, rather than in woods are so typically Welsh.
I was thinking about this recently as there are patches of bluebells everywhere in N Wales both in woodland and in other habitats.

We are on the way to S Pembs in a couple of weeks - we go every year for the St Davids festival. All our children have been there every year in the May half term and I have many memories of them revising for exams on the beaches.

On one of our trips to Skomer (at bluebell time of course) I took a picture of my two youngest DDs sitting among the f;lowers - if I could find it I would post it.

I am not sure we will make it to Skomer again - my track record for falling off boats and breaking things is not good and OH would be nervous of his ticker going haywire whilst out of medical help range. How glad I am that we did these things while we were able to.

Absolutely beautiful Flower although I have been to Pembrokeshire more times than I could count I have never had the opportunity to visit Skomer. Thanks for sharing your lovely photographs.
