Butterfly dust

Can one of you, (probably Bags ) tell me what is the 'dust' that comes off the wings of butterflies and moths?

Hi Galen the "dust" from butterflies and moths is the tiny scales which their wings are made from. Hope this answers your question. Like Bags I'm into all things nature. My Dad's influence I think.

I've had a think, more info., The tiny scales that cover butterfly's wings assist with flight, they are slippery and are easilly knocked off. If they lose too many thet can't fly so well.Same goes for moths.sunshine
