I could resist sharing this amazing scene.
This is is one of the many Icelandic volcanoes. At this stage happily pumping out very runny basaltic lava at about 1000dg C.
It is not causing much disruption at present as the lava is not coming into contact with the glacier nearby as at Eyjafjallajökull in 2010. The combination of ice and hot lava is explosive and that caused the 2010 volcanic ash problem.
This is a fissure volcano where the lava is coming from a long crack in the ground rather than the usual image of a pointed volcano, but it could possibly extend towards the Glacier and that is being monitored
