Robins

The robins around here sing at all hours. When I did nightshift in the nursing home you could hear them singing all night. It was nice to know that something else was awake besides the staff.

PRINTMISS we have loads of srarrows, when I heard of a decline in their numbers I thought they must all have migrated to Northumberland. The bushes in our garden are full of them.

Since a Robin came into my garden no Blue Tits have been near. I think Robins have a reputation for being very aggressive towards other small birds.

I am not quite sure why it is we like the robins so much, I think they are lovely little birds, but they are really big bullies aren't they? I have noticed more sparrows than ever, which is good, because they were very much on the decline I believe.

Well normally I'd say it's too late in the year for that as siblings should have marked out their own territory well before now BUT you may have hit on the answer to my query too .*Elegran*.

If, because this has been a very mild spring and a good summer, robins have produced a second brood, then that would explain why there are so many robins around and yes, these could be young siblings from a second group who haven't established their own territory yet.

That is unusual as they are very territorial Nina and you are right - they are usually only seen one at a time, except in the breeding season.

There were two (pair?) on the bird table yesterday. I've never seen more than one at a time before.
No singing though.

We've always had a lot of Robins around, we have one that sings all hours of the night even at 3am I sometimes hear him..
