Is there such a thing as indoor and outdoor thermometers ?
The one I have put out on my patio table is registering 44c !! shock that can't be right. It is sheltered but we're on the coast and there is a breeze.

Mine, right in the middle of the country, south facing garden, said 42 yesterday.

My patio thermometer is in the shade. Yesterday it showed 37.4 degrees, and is the same today. I just fetched in the washing and felt the searing sun so couldn't wait to get back indoors. My thermometer is a max/min and only went down to 20c overnight. I zero it every morning. Thank goodness for the awning I had fitted a few years ago. I can't bear to be under it in this heat, but it keeps the south facing living room shaded.
I had to go shopping this morning to buy a couple of floaty dresses, as my usual cropped jeans/trousers are too thick.

Good excuse Sal, why didn't I think of that? grin Actually, I don't think I could face the shops today. I went ot the post office and really struggled to walk the short distance in this heat - it was like wading through treacle.

My outdoor thermometer said max 44.5 yesterday.
It went up to 39 today. It gives a running 24 hour max/min.
