PamelaJ1….. Yes I agree, it is a different world for them.
I wouldn't say they don't stand a chance though.

They have parents who could help them understand.
Start young by talking and joining other groups who feel the same way, they are out there.

Interestingly, they cant quite square the circle, when it comes to realising that they are part of the problem too.

Any age isn't immune to the power of advertising.

I was listening to the radio the other day.
The subject was about using the internet to most effectively sell stuff. The term was “giving people more effective purchasing opportunities”.
The youngsters are the target audience.
They don’t really stand a chance.

Studies have shown that concern about climate change is high in young.

But their passion for the health of the world does not seem to have made an impression on their shopping habits.

A recent survey has shown that the average teen has 6 or more pairs of trainers in their wardrobe. Amounting to 30 million pairs for British teens (13-19) alone.

1 in 10 has ten or more pairs, with 30% hardly worn or discarded within 3 months.

If only half of these trainers were bought in the first place, the amount of carbon dioxide saved would be the equivalent of taking 73,000 cars off the road for a year.

Studies have shown that young people are more susceptible to advertising (via the internet) fashion and peer pressure.

Making it more difficult for them to make independent choices when under these influences.

We all need to know how to make intelligent decisions about our lifestyles, and what the ramifications are.

Only then can we make a difference, together.
