Morocco to supply wind and solar power to the UK

I don’t understand why more countries with so much guaranteed sun and many so poor don’t do this more often. In a taxi in India I suggested it and the taxi driver had clearly never thought of it. All that sun could give them electricity too.

Yes to the French ones too.

Do the French electricity cables under the Chanel worry you?
But totally agree with you that we shouldn’t be dependant on other nations to supply our power.
But you only have to look at they way the general public view power supplies and you know that we can never produce enough.

1. Underwater cables are vulnerable and open to being tampered with. 2. Being dependent on any other nation for a basic need also makes us vulnerable. Both only my opinion and source of disquiet. Apologies for tardiness of response. I was called away.

Any energy that comes from sun and wind is brilliant I. My book.
I lived for 20 years off grid with all our power coming from these 2 sources.

I thought we had energy from Norway for years?
I know some goes into Europe.

Not sure the government has much influence in this case. The project has all the funding needed in place.

Clean energy, uninterrupted supply, jobs here and Morocco, cheaper electricity.
The cables are being made here as well.

All seems pretty positive.

The only thing I can think to go wrong is the supply chain is broken for some reason. But I'm no expert so maybe I've missed something!

Horrifies me if it's true but, happily, the current government isn't famous for advance planning. The situation may well change
.
Why??

Already Northumberland being supplied by Norway, from underground, Reasonable from a reasonable country. Would be more worried if from Gazprom. The Morocco-UK project will generate electricity in Morocco and provide Jobs.

By 2030 8% of UK electricity will be supplied by underwater cables.
An interesting development.
