No mention of Trump here but I am so happy for the turtle and grateful for the link.

Rhossi the ridley sea turtle washed up off the coast of Anglesey in 2023 and has been nursed back to health by staff at the Anglesey Sea Zoo.

Rhossi is now ready to go home but is prevented from doing so because Trump, in his wisdom, signed an executive order which means international marine turtle conservation work is on hold for now, leaving Rhossi in limbo.

Kemp's ridley turtles are critically endangered, with only about 7,000 females thought to exist.

They are native to the Gulf of Mexico, or Gulf of America as it is now known in the US, and must be released back into those waters.

Martha Williams, the former director of US Fish and Wildlife Service, said the impact on conservation projects was "heartbreaking".

"I didn't expect this administration to necessarily be friendly towards conservation. I have been surprised at the speed and the degree to which they have undermined decades of goodwill and work in the conservation sphere," she said.
