I have a Mahonia Charity in a pot. It suddenly started growing when the rain arrived and now looks pale and needs a bigger pot. It’s just about to flower, dare I repot it now or will I loose the flowers and do it no good at all? Thanks for any advice.

They’re tough plants, it’s still quite warm ( until next week). I’d risk repotting gently.

Thanks, at least it has been watered well today!

I came past a big one in someone’s front garden this afternoon. It was so full of blossoms and even in the pouring rain it smelt lovely . I stopped, the rain dripping off my face, to have a good sniff. It really cheered me up.

I’d repot while it’s still a bit warm, just one size up should be enough. Then probably up another pot size in the late Spring.

Wear gloves - they’re prickly so-and-so’s and the sap leaves yellow stains!
